I passed a young fashionable person with a cane today. I was in too much pain at the time to give her a big smile, but mentally I high fived her.

I wonder if she did the same thing. She was sitting in the street debating with her friend (boyfriend?) about whether she could walk to something or not. She looked at me (I assume trying to make eye contact but in my usual manner I couldn’t stand it and immediately looked away). She had this fab pale pink cane and was wearing a pretty dress.

I hope she felt my mental high five at least. I wish I wasn’t so socially inept.
