The irony is as I cleaned out my purse before attempting to blog, I found a fortune that said something along the lines of : You Enjoy Competitive Sports.  LONG LIVE THE CHAMP!

It’s nothing special it’s your run of the mill head-cold-presenting-itself-as-allergies germ infestation. And because I know that this will make everyone’s life-span complete here is a vivid description of my anguish: On the one hand I sound like an old-timey coal miner coughing up a lung,  on the other a I’d make cruddy hide and seek partner not because the coughing but because the slime trail of tissues I leave in my wake.

Do I sound pathetic enough?  I think so. But even though I don’t have the ability to think too deeply like a turnip (hey man they are root veg. very deep)  I spent some quality time looking at pretty girly things. My favourite pretty girly thing happens to be The Real Real.  For me it’s like antiquing but for clothes. Anyhow, ZOMG: YOU GUYS I FOUND A CHINESE LITERATI PAINTING SKIRT… #MINE!!!

I love this so much.  I dig that it’s a brownish yellow because it makes it look like one of the Old school Song Dynasty works that was rendered on silk and not paper…And funconservation fact time: Silk oxidises at a different rate than paper and makes the background look all yellowish.  I also enjoy that the pattern is offset it makes the mountains looks more misty and mystical. And if you were to ask me to get all technical… I kind of get the vibe that it’s sort of done in the style of Guo Xi.

I’m sorry the image got so squished on here. Le Sigh. I re added the image twice and it’s not working for me right now and the Dayquil is making my brain full of quit.  But you can click through the image to check out where this bad girl hangs out in the Freer Sackler’s online collection.

Here’s a less good image of this work:

Guo Xi is a pretty famous literati painter. I’ll get into it at a later date. But these guys were like hard-core hipsters. In an adorable way. Trust me they grow on you.  Guo was very method and he liked to meditate before painting and was really into making everything seem appropriately seasonal and atmospheric. Oh yes. I feel he would have totally crushed anything pumpkin spice right now.  Anyhow, I can’t really tell yet what ‘season’ my skirt is supposed to be reppinguntil I get it but it made me cheer up buttercup and I can’t wait to tour in it! SQUEE!! Art Imitating Real Life.

Oh and by the way it’s Prada. But Meryl Streep in that Movie will not be my docent spirit animal for obvious reasons

So a few weeks back I heard a blurb on one of the podcasts I listen to that … Okay… to be super honest I don’t remember what day it was but I’m going to guestimate it was late July -early August and I thought : ROLL THE DICE YOU SILLY OTTER!!!

And sure enough, the stars, planets, and, supermassive quarks (don’t quote me on that. Might I refer you to NGT) there was a chance to apply for a docent position at the delightfully eclectic and just-my-kind-of quirky Pacific Asia Museum. So I did.  AND SQUUEEEEEE!!!  I GOT IT AND I AM NOW PART OF THE MUSEUM PIT CREW!!

Anyhow long story short I got equipped with a giant binder of stuff (Knowledge +10) and I go in once a week for training and learning cool insider info that I will get to trade with you guys…A kind of ‘insider trading’ if you will.

Any how that’s all for now. Stay tuned!!! Same nerd place. But technically new nerd channel…
