This cowl was directly inspired by the Waves Mittens by tincanknits, a pattern which can be had for a mere $5 USD and which I hope I did any justice at all. I kind of winged the whole thing. I hope to do a lot more knitting with Japanese patterns.

Another bee cowl! This one is up in my shop.

Just as the last one, the bee in this design came from the Queen Bee sweater by Mary Scott Huff. The rest I just dummied up.

A hat for @hohomylad, whose fierceness and grace inspire me to always stand to my full height. Knitted with Malabrigo Arroyo, I don’t remember the colorway. Very pretty variegated forest green.

I’ve been wanting to knit this bee cowl for ages, but I didn’t feel like I had the chops. After a couple more complex fair isle things, I went for it!

I saw the bee on a sweater and just dummied up a pattern, so I can’t take credit for that. Knit with Valley Yarns Huntington, which is cheap and wonderful!

My friend Kori is due to have her second baby in less than a month. Her daughter can’t pronounce the chosen name yet, so she calls the baby “Wormy”. She also loves The Very Hungry Caterpillar, so I knitted the baby his first costume! It turned out real cute!

Guess what! You can get the pattern for this gorgeous Fair Isle hat for just $3! It’s easier than it

Guess what! You can get the pattern for this gorgeous Fair Isle hat for just $3! It’s easier than it looks, like a LOT easier. Happy knitting!

My first FO of 2018! I kept seeing hats like this online, with the fur pompoms and big cuffs, so I went for it. Classic Elite Vail, one of my all-time favorite yarns.

I’m sick of envying knitting on Pinterest. This year I’m making my own Pinterest gold.

I’m going to spend November making Christmas stockings, some to sell and some for babies I know. This is the first one, made with my long-coveted Madelinetosh Vintage (in Antler and Blood Runs Cold). I kind of get why it’s prohibitively expensive – it’s 100% merino wool, but it’s as soft as cotton. It’s like the perfect yarn.

I cribbed the fair isle from this GORGEOUS (free!) sock pattern by The House of Hogbuffer. Had to change it a little to fit the stitch count. I gotta block this, but. I’m feeling very lazy this week.

The bulk of that extra-special Pichinku wool went into this hat, and I really like it. I’ve always liked the look of just one or two rows of contrast color along a hem, but this is the first time I did it. This one’s Halloweeny too, but I think it’ll hold up all year round!

On the subject of pistachio, I never knew how delicious it was until I had a chocolate pistachio cupcake. It might be my new favorite flavor.

My husband gifted me this amazing yarn from Pichinku, which is a 100% natural Peruvian Highland wool, botanically dyed by women artisans in Cusco. That’s the acid green yarn. I’ve been trying to think of what to do with it, and this was perfect. It’s Halloweeny!

The other yarn is Noro’s Silk Garden, which my Aunt Ingrid gifted me, and which I’d never have bought myself but I absolutely love. Nobody does a variegated yarn like Noro.

[strawberry scoop hatbygingerhaole on etsy ]

I’ve been knitting a lot, even if I haven’t been posting it. This is an adult hat made with the baby yarn I got and fell in love with: Universal Yarn’s Cotton Supreme DK. It has a little bit of shed, like you get with pima cotton, but it’s otherwise flawless.

This is just a real simple cable rib, and I like it because from far away it looks like a big giant stockinette stitch.

I’m probably gonna make a lot of these herringbone hats. I think it’s so attractive, and you really can’t do better than white and goldenrod.

I swore Lion brand yarn was garbage, but they got me with this gorgeous pastel rainbow stuff. It’s acrylic, and it does shed some, but it’s really soft and SO pretty. Put it together with some Royal Alpaca. Best looking pom-pom I’ve ever made! I didn’t use a pattern, just did multiples of 8 for the herringbone.

The finished cowl from that WIP post. The photo makes the blue look washed out, but it’s not. If I were to do this again, I’d reverse the blue and red. Thought it would be heavier on the blue.

Yarn is Rowan Softyak DK, which is darned pricey when it ain’t on clearance, but I might have to splurge. This stuff was great to work with.

Made this for my girl @pythoness-at-delphi, who’s leaving the LBC for the chill haunts of Oregon. Used a really nice 100% cotton my aunt gave me, and the variegated blue/purple is Cascade Tangier.
