Nick Bull
Did I repurpose that recent art of Nick for a reference and some paper-dolling? You bet.
The answer is boxer briefs and if you didn’t know before now you know.
When you want to draw a little bit every day, have some easy fallbacks - not everything has to be new or grandiose or pushing your limits.
I’ve had an expression-a-day sitting around awhile, but figured it was time to get these out the door.
Don’t look back
Nothin’ left to see;
Just leave the shadows in the past
If I let it go
Can I shake this feelin’?
Under the dawn
Arisen
Of ultraviolet suns
FIRST SHOTS ARE FIRED
My past and future lives collide
The target turns to meet my eyes
One joust required
I find the strength beyond the lies,
And ride as my enemy dies
My first drawing of Nick as an anthro, circa 2003-2004. Relined because the scan is way too light to make out otherwise.
Ear position is literally from Day 1 design. In the unfinished headshot he was kissing someone and that was too scandalous to draw so I never finished.
Nick’s ears default to back (a la top left) for design purposes, but I’ve done that for so long that even now it helps to practice more upright/perked positions.
Kitty ears are so expressive and they deserve the appropriate variety.
I’ve been talking about wanting to use Nick in DnD eventually. My take on him as a Leonin isn’t very different since they aren’t limited to looking like lions; I’d probably make more use of claws than I do with my anthros, but that’s about it.
Ranger with multiclass as a Bard. He could easily be Bard first (or only, even), but I absolutely lack the confidence and charisma to main a Bard.
