i think actually the most important thing for new or young tumblr users to learn isnt to source things or to block bots, its that most funney back and forth posts are staged by people who know each other and just because you think theyre fun does not mean you should comment on everything you reblog to get op to joke with you
And even when the snarky banter ISN’T staged, it’s still mostly done between friends. People who know each other’s intentions.
A random person you follow but have never spoken to doesn’t know whether your snarky jab on their post is an invitation to funny tumblr banter or a genuine insult. Even if you’ve been mutuals for a year they probably don’t know your intentions when you start being “humorously” rude.
Going onto a stranger’s post and calling them a bitch, no matter how humorously you think you’re expressing it or how lightheartedly you mean it, doesn’t reflect well on you. Being pedantic with someone you’ve never interacted with before a distant reblog from them ended up on your dashboard will not make people think “wow, this person seems fun”, it will make them think “wow, what an asshat.”
Friendly ribbing is something that can only be done between friends. Trying it with anyone else just makes you look like a jerk.
I also wanna add even if you are the op of a post and someone leaves and innocuous comment you shouldn’t be rude or snarky to them either. Being the op doesn’t give you an excuse to be an ass and I see way too many popular bloggers be uncritically cruel for internet funnyman points
