BACKGROUND:

Born to ambitious lawyers Arthur & Rebecca Peters, Reggie’s life—along with that of her older brother Ollie—has been planned from birth to be one of success and prosperity. While Ollie flourishes in this environment, however, Reggie feels stifled under the weight of her parents’ expectations.

Freedom is only found in the moments when she draws her bow across violin strings, every doubt and insecurity fading into the melody. But in her parents’ eyes, music is no more than a hobby, an addition to a resume, a key to scholarships and opportunities meant to push their children a step ahead of their peers. Reggie doesn’t know how to tell them any different or how to explain that her soul feels most alive when she is a single piece of a larger orchestra, rising and falling at the command of the conductor’s baton.

After an accident lands her in the hospital, Reggie discovers no one can see or hear her save for the boy that looks an awful lot like the dead brother her father doesn’t talk about. Reggie doesn’t know much about being dead—she isn’t even good at being alive!—but, with the help of her ghost uncle and his ghost friends, she might find that almost-death is the push she needs to find her place among the living…

SUMMARY: When Reggie is involuntarily poofed away during a rehearsal, he winds up in the middle of a chaotic emergency room. There, he is surprised to meet anotherReggie–Regina, a young violinist teetering on the verge of life and death after an accident leaves her in a coma. What begins as investigating how to return Regina’s spirit to her body evolves into more as the Phantoms realize Luke isn’t the only one facing unfinished family business.

This plot bunny has been mauling me the hardest over the past couple of weeks, so I thought I would share it first! It came to me after binging JatP and thinking Reggie & Alex both need ‘Unsaid Emily’ moments with their families.
