Omega Centauri is one of the finest globular clusters in the Southern Milky Way and has no equal in the Northern Sky. It is a gathering of millions of mostly ancient stars at a distance of about 18,000 light years. These stars formed billions of years before the sun and its retinue of planets appeared.
