Here is my annual wrap up list of the films I enjoyed the most throughout the year:

10. Jojo Rabbit (Dir.: Taika Waititi)
An unconventional yet highly entreating take on WWII films, let alone satiric ones showcasing Waititi at his best.

9. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (Dir.: Quentin Tarantino)
Tarantino’s visually arresting love letter to old Hollywood, that missed it on the mark script wise.

8. The Irishman (Dir.: Martin Socrsese)
Boys club and CGI Scorsese style in an otherwise terrific film hindered by its outrageously gluttonous run time.

7.  Ford V Ferrari (Dir.: James Mangold)
A cinematic adventure both on the track and in the acting duet between the two wonderful leads.

6. One Child Nation (Dir.: Nanfu Wang & Jialing Zhang)
A thought provoking documentary tastefully told in a very sensitive and delightful manner contrasting real life horror.

5. The Farewell (Dir.: Lulu Wang)
The little movie that could of 2019, giving a new perspective to the generational and cultural gaps that open your eyes.

4. Joker (Dir.: Todd Phillips)
Another epic portrayal of the iconic comic book villain culminating in the best acting performance of the year.

3. Marriage Story (Dir.: Noah Baumbach)
Breaking up is hard to do, goes the song, but boy was is entertaining to watch in this great family drama.

2. 1917 (Dir.: Sam Mendes)
A cinematic spectacle so artistically done, captivating from the first minute and one of the best war films ever.

1. Parasite (Dir.: Bong Joon Ho)
The most fulfilling and enjoyable film this year which had it all and the rightful deserving honoree for the top spot.

Honorable Mention:

“Little Women” which joyfully reunites the wonderful Greta GerwigandSaoirse Ronan adapting the famed classic, “Toy Story 4″ in which Pixar proved once more the magic of its most beloved franchise and “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” which would’ve done better if it weren’t for the wonderful Mr. Rogers documentary that just preceded it the year before.
