Let’s look at some similarities and differences here.
One thing we’ve learned already is that Masa goes to great lengths to differentiate between characters by giving them separate outfits, since almost all of them are played by Miku and Gumi.
This makes it far less likely that Yamai-Hime is Emi.
At the very least, we know that purple-robed Gumi is not Mai, and not the princess mentioned in The Fox’s Wedding and Demon Child in the Clear Mirror.
We know this because Beautiful Shadow (…) and Demon Child (…) were confirmed, by Masa, to take place at the same time in different locations.
I do hold fast to my theory that Mai is the metaphorical princess (possibly the demon princess, too).
And I 100% support the idea @shishikusas had. I think that purple-robed Gumi is Emi!

i fantasize abt the onibi series getting an anime a lot bc i have brainrot, while ‘the story of the kitsune and the demon’ is the series’ official title it seems generic? idk having it just be ‘onibi’ would be cool but either would work
having the plot be in 3 sections like how it is on masa’s blog is good for writing, where each section is a certain character’s POV, but for anime i believe it would be clunky. it would flow better if the plot went chronologically, with the POV switching as needed between characters
it would start at the earliest point in the story with ryou, then go thru the events leading to her death while switching perspectives between her, mai, and akari (and maybe some minor characters if its appropriate)
im not sure how many episodes it would be but i don’t think it would need more than 1 season so perhaps 15-20 depending on how drawn out
ALSO! all of the characters would have canon designs!! i mean we already have mai and akari’s but no other characters that even have designs have non-vocaloid ones. ryou, shikyou, and kaori would have to look different since it wouldn’t be vocaloid-centric, but i think they could be similar. sometime i wanna make little sketches of what they could look like :-)
and masa would make the music for the anime. of course. an actual animation studio would animate it but obv masa gotta be at the forefront
