It’s been officially spring for a day already, but it’s been nothing but grey skies here. So have some cute baby birds!

NaKniCroMo - WIP Wednesday

Whoa, hey… another week over!

So, here’s what I managed during the last week:

image

Except for one day, I did a bit each day, and I finished all parts of the Fox Cushion: front, back, ears and tail. There may be a row too much on the back? Gotta find a way to adapt to that.

image

Now all that needs to be done is to weave in the ends and assemble it.

I’m still hellbent on getting into nålebinding, but I don’t want to start with it before the fox cushion is not finished

~~~~~~
image
Today, I also started with the “Raiders Roll” side of what might become my new headset case, because I was able to take the tram to work (and back home) and thus had some time for crafting-on-the-road. Not much yet, but the amount of bobbins is already confusing
The other side will feature the Zerg Logo, in violet/purple ^_^
So the plan for the rest of the month is:
  • finish cushion
  • learn Oslo stitch, maybe make something useful-ish with it
  • optional: finish School of Conjuration pencil case (I want this to be finished until the end of April, though)
That’s the plan, though, I’m not going to take it too rigidly… rigid constraints take the fun out of things…
I don’t have one favourite hook or needle, but my favourite brand of hooks and needles is KnitPro! I love both their crochet hooks and knitting needles. Especially the interchangeable circulars. I use those for everything!
NaKniCroMo day 15 - favourite yarn
Just like I don’t have a favourite fiber I don’t really have a favourite yarn either.
But there is certainly some brands I really like.
Like Yarn and Colors and Scheepjeswol for crochet. Their yarns are available in a lot of colours, so that means you can make all sorts of pretty combinations. For knitting I really like some fancy (hand) dyed yarns like Skein and GamerCrafting.
Oooh, this is hard! I love merino wool to knit with, but cotton and acrylic to crochet with. So I don’t have one favourite kind of fiber, but many kinds I love working with.
NaKniCroMo - day 31 - how did you do?
Remember that goal I set myself at the beginning of the month? To catch up with the CAL? Well I guess I failed that because I didn’t catch up.
Made a lot of headway on it though, was just on part two when I started and on part 6 now. But what I find way more important is that I’ve had so much fun doing it!
On my second goal of making stock I did get some things done, but I will go even more at that the coming six weeks!
Day 24: Most complicated pattern
Sooo… technically not complicated, but rather a win over the intimidating dragon scale/crocodile stitch:
I credit this (free) pattern for helping me to finally grasp the stitch concept and make four pairs of gift mitts:
Don'cha just love a good crafting conquest? ❤
For my project tracking I generally use ravelry. As seen on the photo a small selection of my projects. For progress tracking I use an app on my phone, it allows me to count the rows and track the time I spend on a project.
Year of yarn - March 7th - most used tool
I have so many hooks and needles and not really a favourite or most used size or anything.
But the one thing I do use for every project, every time I knit or crochet at home is my yarn bowl!
That’s a nice one! It’s sensibly high so that the yarn will stay put and not jump out!
@marybegone yes! And it’s made of ceramic, so it’s nice and weighty and it will stay put too when pulling on the yarn!
NaKniCroMo day 10 - inspiration
I get my inspiration from everywhere. It can be a smell, a sound, a sight, a person or even a memory. But even just seeing a yarn or a pattern can give me inspiration about what to do with it.
Like for this Rheinlust shawl, it was the pattern with the wave in it combined with a memory of the North Sea that gave me the inspiration to make my version of the Rheinlust. I then searched for a yarn that fitted the idea in my head to make it come to life. That can take some time, like in this case it took me a few years to find the right yarn.
NaKniCroMo - Day 2 - Goals
Oh look at that. It’s an empty chair! This month, my plan is to fill it with as many amigurumi as possible! 31 amigurumi in 31 days has a nice ring to it but I also have a big order I’ve been a bit slow on so that’s my priority before sheer numbers. We’ll see how it goes though!
