im honestly really disturbed by the turn a lot of online activism has taken where people object to like, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, food shelves, libraries, etc on the grounds that they are not always 100% a universal good and may have their own drawbacks and abuses, and their proposed solutions are like (thing that is literally not possible with current infrastructure) (thing that is not possible without total socialist revolution, which is not happening any time soon) (bravely making many posts about it on the internet) (the many, many changes that would need to be put in place that would create a society without homelessness/poverty in the first place, which should absolutely be pursued but people will continue to be homeless and poor in the meantime) (bold new idea which is functionally indistinguishable from what theyre objecting to)
The european citizens initiative for unconditional basic income is running out june 25th and so far only has 245.092 out of 1 million required signatures with only 3 countries out of 7 required meeting their goal.
