Oil painting detail, my handsome son. I’m enjoying working toward more juicy color and looser brushwork in my more recent paintings. Interesting how looser mark making can look more like flesh that very smooth, which can look too stiff and like marble. Playing with reflected color as well as temperature shift. These are some concepts I’ll be teaching at my portrait workshop @theflorencestudio Oct 1-5, 2018.
