Brynja (2020), acrylic on canvas 90 x 70cm. This painting was part of a small series of work created exclusively for @caigerart exploring the idea of merging the practice of both drawing and painting, focusing on line work. I’ve always tried to avoid any similarity to Franz Kline, as he really was a master of black and white abstraction, but with this one I tried to reference him in a semi direct way. I don’t paint anywhere near as loosely as he did but felt like it worked here. The name Brynja refers to ‘armour’ in Old Norse, referring to the almost ‘belt’ like form in the composition. You can find this painting on show at @affordableartfairuk in Battersea right now (Stand J7) or online.

New work in progress. Laying some marks down and letting the process flow. I know it’s kind of pretentious to say “listen to what the painting says it wants” but, well, it’s true.

A small selection of paintings from this year that I’m able to post on here (the others being reserved for upcoming exhibitions next year).

To all those who have purchased my work or have simply shown an interest in what I do, thanks so much for continuing to support me and my artistic practice. Every like, comment and share is appreciated.

The past couple of years have been pretty hard going, and next year will be rough too I’m sure, but hey, we’ve all made it this far… I wish you all a peaceful and healthy holiday and new year.
