Interfaith Gathering to #Pray4Land at Lake Merritt Amphitheater happening now!
It’s a disgrace for the City of Oakland to sell its public lands for 100% Luxury Condo development in one of the most diverse parts of the the city. While UrbanCore, LLC, a black-owned business, would be one of the first black developers in a long time, we demand #PublicLand4PublicGood
Eastlake neighbors are gathering with activists to #SaveE12th (at Lakeshore ave) from these false market-driven solutions that inflate the cost of housing and increase policing, in this or any other low-income and working communities of color.
These luxury condos would increase surveillance and policing of Black communities, and speed up the gentrification that is driving Black displacement from Oakland. We oppose these forms of anti-Black violence.
As Asians 4 Black Lives, we join in this action because this is our neighborhood, this is our community. Our liberation depends on the liberation of Black people. We refuse to be used as tools to uphold white supremacy and anti-Black racism.
