The problem with our modern era is that we’ve lost the ability to read prisca Latinitas (lit. ‘the Latin of the Ancients), the language that many of the old thaumaturgical grimoires were written in.

As everyone knows demons love rituals and riddles. The most direct way of talking to a demon is by indirectly asking it questions. For example, in the so-called, “ancient manuscript,” Hoc Latinum non est, stulte, Saint Smithen of Lesser Leeds had the following conversation with a demonic manifestation:

Smithen: Quid generis musicorum daemones amo?

Demon: Anima musica!

It boggles the mind what we might have been able to learn from such infernal wisdom had the ability to translate these ancient and august documents survived into our modern era.
