#raven king art contest
I’ve always wanted to make a raven pendant and so here’s my chance for the Raven King Art Contest hosted by @greywaren! I made a copper pendant inspired by Maggie Stiefvater’s The Raven Cycle: Blackened copper hand sawed into Ronan Lynch’s playful raven Chainsaw, featuring a hammer-set dichroic glass stone that echoes the sunlight shining through the leaves of the dreamy mysterious forests of the books. The bezel around the stone is stamped with “squash one squash two squash three”. The back of the pendant features a cutout of (of course) a chainsaw, with leylines scribed beneath it so that the fresh copper shines through.
I’ve had this glass cabochon for a while and never knew what to do with it until now. Sometimes things are just meant to be! Now I just need to find the right chain for Chainsaw…

In the purple-black space, it was as visible as smoke, dragging ragged-edge wings and cloth from its body. The sound of its wings was more prominent than anything else: thump, thump, thump. When it opened its pair of beaks, they trembled with a ferocious cry inaudible to human ears.

Finally finished my TRC inspired 360 book! Surprisingly, I never cut myself in the process.

Make Way for the RAVEN KING. My entry for the Raven King Art Contest. Whew, made it on time lol. (Mobiles hate dark images… I tried to lighten it so that it’s viewable on mobile phones, but it’s still best viewed on a computer.)

Alright guys, I’m about to reblog the runners-up for the art contest (in no particular order), and then the winner. There ended up being a lot more than three runners-up, per @maggie-stiefvater’s request, and the prize is now a book hugger instead of a bookplate. Congratulations, everyone! My entry for @greywarenand@maggie-stiefvater‘s lovely art contest. After 30+ hours, a couple of cuts and burns, and countless pages, my book sculpture is finally done. What a great excuse to finally do a book sculpture out of this beautiful series….and, for the first time ever, this one is mine to keep!

(this is my entry for the trk art contest! i’ve been wanting to draw a scene from this chapter since reading the book, so this was the perfect excuse to do so. i had to upload it in two pieces since tumblr has wonky rules about proportions, but you can see the full size image here, as well as details here and an alternate color version here!)
