It turns out The S-Classes That I Raised has a manhwa too. Nice!

I think they’ve added a few things? Was the monster attack during Yerim’s recruitment always there? Did I just forget? They also added in the starting section about how Yoojin came to be attacked by the dragon.

In terms of the subtler difference, the manhwa had to drop some of the details about Yoojin’s mental state, like how badly the memory transfer of Final Acquittal messes him up and his reaction to realizing that not just his brother but all the other people who died with him in various dungeons are now alive. I don’t think it’s a bad change, since adaptations always have to make some changes, but it’s something I noticed.

Another thing that really surprised me is how clean cut and pure Yoohyun looks?

I expected him to look much edgier, but he really does look like a good boy in front of his brother (don’t let his looks fool you, he’s not talking about some plot-related danger, he’s spouting yandere crazy boyfriend nonsense here).

It’s still only up to the announcement about Yoojin’s “tamer skill,” so it’s not far along, but it’s really nice to see.

I just… binged this all the way to ch34… (Why does it have to have so many fun side-characters??? I love all of them, though Kim Sunghan is dearest to me.)

Right?? Cute side characters are so important…

I love everybody except Sung H-whatever. Which is unfortunate since he’s the most popular pairing lmao Kim Sunghan is great, I am cheering for him to awaken his other talents. I finally also know what Yoo Myeongwoo looks like. Our babies Yerim and Peace… Even ultimate big sis Moon Hyuna.

And of course, our codependency miscommunication bro pair Yoohyun and Yoojin. They look so baby, I love it.

On the subject of Blossoming Blade, I haven’t read a lot of the murim stuff, but I’ve read a couple now.

Here are the ones I enjoyed and still follow:

Doctor’s Rebirth

It’s very power fantasy isekai/transmigration, but I do like that the MC is a doctor and has a very doctor drive to help patients, even he tries to logic himself out of it. It’s also impressively gay (though I assume it’s not really intended to be that way). The MC has managed to get two boyfriends fighting over him already, and he’s full UST with a third. Godspeed, you dumbass.

I’m a Martial Art Villainess, but I’m the Strongest!

(The link it just to the scanlation site, because they keep doing something to make bookmarked URLs not work.)

The title hits the main points. There’s power levelling, politics, and romance, it’s got everything. Also, the ML has the biggest tiddies.

Precious Daughter of the Greatest Martial Arts Villain

The usual “reborn as the baby daughter of a whackjob, time to act cute to survive” but in a murim setting. The dad is hot though, very my type. Jokes aside, it’s a pretty cute story on the whole.

Bonus: Special shoutout to SSS-Class Suicide Hunter which is doing a take on the murim setting in its current arc.

I can’t believe it’s finished!

This was one of the first manhwas I read (years ago now??) and it just feels very strange to see it actually completed.

It’s a manhwa I see recommended often, and for good reason. Part of the “reincarnated as a small child whose father is a heartless and terrifying tyrant, so it’s time to act cute to survive” subgenre, it’s definitely one of the better takes on the concept. The MC, the dad, and the original novel’s protag are all very enjoyable to me, and the art is gorgeous.

This is an easy recommendation for almost anyone vaguely interested in the genre.

That said, a few general complaints (spoilers):

  • They do this thing I’ve seen a couple times recently, where the MC realizes that the “novel” she remembers reading during her previous life in the modern world was actually her second life, and now she is on her third life after she turned back time after her own bad end. I’m not fond of this because, imo, it’s pointlessly convoluted.
  • As I’ve seen it noted, there is a middle section where Claude loses his memories and it kinda drags. But this is honestly a common issue with long stories, and I didn’t feel it was bad if you’re reading it all at once. (It’s better than whatever loop I Was The Real One seems to be stuck in right now.)
  • The ending drags for about 10 chapters longer than it needed to. Half of it is romance hijinks (that don’t even get resolved from what I saw from scrolling through quickly because I lost patience) and half is an unnecessary coronation. You can stop reading after Jeanne departs without really losing anything.

my biggest issue with ‘return of the blossoming mountain sect’ is that the author doesn’t seem to be familiar with the concept of females….

other than that its great tho

of course as soon as i post this a female character shows up -_-

I stayed up way too late reading this and still haven’t caught up, but it is indeed good.

The one thing that bothers me is that they talk about stuff like becoming the stronger sect in China, the five great mountains of China, it’s all China…

But all the character names are Korean!

Is this a translation issue?

OK, I’m caught up and saw the fabled single wo-man character.

I enjoyed it on the whole so far. The art is very consistent, both pretty and dynamic. The MC is a very big personality and drives things along. The grounded combat with a fantasy direction is something I haven’t read much of. And the emphasis on building the sect and leaving a legacy lasting beyond just the MC himself is rare and cool.

On the negatives, I’ll say that there’s basically nothing worth noting outside the MC. Up until the second grade disciples return, the supporting cast is basically non-existent, since the sect elders are largely cut outs filling spaces and the two “senior brother” lackeys have no depth at all. The villains are even worse off in that there aren’t really any. The senior sister at least adds a bit of mystery with where she saw the swordstyle that she uses, but the pretty boy senior brother is still bland as a villain.

Hopefully this will pick up on this eventually, but we’re almost 50 chapters in, so it sure takes its time to pick up speed.
