outer wilds is such an interesting game because it does take such a direct stare at death & the inevitability of it while also playing into the escapist fantasy of having enough time. like. thats such a big part of the fear of death, the fear of running out of time before you can do all you wanted to, and so much of the peace of the ending comes from knowing that you’ve *done* everything, there’s nothing left to do except, maybe, linger here a moment until you’re ready. but like, it’s always about you being ready, making the choice.
