Jensen spent most of the following week working on a special project for (Y/N) and then continuing their rewatch in the evenings. He finally finished his project, walking upstairs he found (Y/N) dishing out some Chinese takeout in the kitchen.

“Hey pretty girl, it smells good in here.”

She chuckled, “You can thank A Taste of China for this wonderful dinner.”

Jensen pulled the end of her shirt up, wiping his face as she turned around. For a moment tension filled silence filled the space between. Her wide eyes traveled down his body stopping where his stomach was showing. Her bottom lip disappeared beneath her teeth before slightly shaking her head.

“I’ll go get cleaned up and then we can watch Supernatural.”

(Y/N) shook her head slightly, “S-Sounds good…”

He turned away from her, pulling his shirt off. A grin splitting across his face as he heard her gasp softly then growl. Jensen was thankful for their playful banter and teasing being back, but knew payback would be a complete bitch. He quickly took a shower and wore the buffalo plaid pj pants she had gotten him last Christmas along with a plain black t-shirt.

As he walked downstairs he heard (Y/N) giggling, “What’s so funny?”

She stood up having the same pj bottoms on, “We’re twinsies!”

“Except you look way better in your pjs.”

This was true, (Y/N)’s pj pants were snuggled around her ass and she had on a black tank top that showed off her beautiful breasts. Suddenly, Jensen found himself wishing he had worn jeans to keep his obvious reaction from being noticed. Yes, payback was definitely being a bitch right now.

Tonight, they were at the midway point of season ten. Other than the purgatory story arc, Jensen loved the Mark of Cain story arc. A lot of his favorite moments came from one particular episode that was coming up. As ‘Halt & Catch Fire’ ended, he could see (Y/N) was starting to get tired and he wanted to show her what he had been working on for her all week before they called it a night.

“You wanna stop here?” He asked.

She shook her head, “No, the next episode is one of my favorites and then we can call it a night.”

Jensen smiled, “Okay. I have something to show you afterwards.”

“Hmm, I’m intrigued. Now, shhh. Watch the episode.”

The Impala drove down the road to Polunsky Unit in Livingston, West Virginia.

Dean asked, “The Zodiac?”

“Seven victims.” Sam answered without hesitation.

“Dahmer?” Dean asked, glancing towards his brother.

Again, Sam answered with hesitation, “Seventeen.”

Dean scoffs, “That’s some freaky stuff, man. It’s a whole new side of you.”

“It’s called true crime, Dean. It’s a hobby.”

“No. Bass fishing, needlepoint …that’s a hobby, okay? Collecting serial-killer stats… that’s… that is an illness.” Dean turns the Impala into the prison entrance.

Jensen chuckled, “You and Sammy have so much in common.”

“Hey! True Crime is a hobby and there is nothing wrong with that.” She playfully smacked him with a pillow before returning to her spot on the couch.

She stretched her legs out with her feet resting in his lap. She curled her toes at just the right angle to brush against his dick, awakening it once more. A soft groan rumbled within Jensen’s chest as he readjusted his sitting position.

“You okay?” (Y/N) asked, not looking from the TV.

He narrowed his eyes, studying her face to see if she was playing with him, “I’m fine. My butt is falling asleep.”

(Y/N) moved her feet from his lap and pushed them beneath his butt wiggling her toes against his cheeks, “Does this help?”

The only thing it was helping was the tent growing in his pants especially when her toes slipped towards the crevice of his ass, “Whoa! Hey now, watch it.”

The mischievous smirk on her face gave him the answer from before. She was indeed fucking with him.

Castiel and Cain are standing among the fresh graves as Cain says, “I’ve got time. How’s Dean, by the way? I hear he did good, took Abaddon down. He’s not well?”

“Even with the First Blade hidden, Dean is losing his fight against the Mark. If we don’t find a cure…” Castiel looks away.

“There is no cure. I’m living proof of that. But don’t worry about Dean. I’ll get to him, in due time.”

Castiel slides the angel blade out of his coat sleeve and into his hand.

“Sorry, Castiel. You’re not on my list.” Cain says then disappears.

(Y/N) sat up crossing her legs beneath her, “Alright I gotta ask…”

“Oh boy…” He mumbled, taking a long drink from his beer.

“Did you honestly never play up the whole Dean and Cas thing?”

If it was not (Y/N) asking the question, Jensen would have given his standard answer like he always did. However, she was his most trusted friend and there were no secrets between them.

“No, I never intentionally played Dean as having a thing for Cas.”

She chuckled, “So, your thing for Misha just came out naturally no matter who y’all were playing at the time.”

Panic seized his body as what he believed to be his best kept secret, was revealed so easily. He stared at her in silence as she looked back at the TV. When she glanced back a moment later, his stunned body frozen like a statue, (Y/N) moved to sit beside him.

“What’s wrong? Did you think I didn’t know about your major crush on Mish?”

Jensen shook his head, “I didn’t think anybody knew. I play it off usually, so everyone would be none the wiser.”

“Oh handsome, you couldn’t deny or hide your your feelings for that man if you tried. I mean, the bulk of your fandom are Cockles girls. Including me.” (Y/N) chuckled.

The shame hit him like a tidal wave pushing out all the air from his lungs. His chest burned as he tried to take in a deep breath only for a soft wheezing whistle escaping his lips. Suddenly, (Y/N) was straddling his lap, hugging him tightly to her body.

“Whoa, hey, just breathe in nice and easy for me.” He did as she continued, “Now, breathe out slowly.”

He could feel the panic fading away and wrapped his arms around her, “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, but what just happened? You never panic like that.”

He swallowed the last bit of shame lodged in his throat, “You know how we grew up and how a man liking another man was perceived. Not that my family would have ever judged anyone for that, but… I don’t know.”

Jensen closed his eyes as her fingers ran through his hair. She pulled his forehead against hers massaging his scalp. His body relaxing completely against the back of the couch.

“No matter what your feelings are, they are valid. Doesn’t matter if they’re for Mish or a beautiful woman. Your feelings are yours to have and express as you see to it.”

His eyes fluttered and opened staring into hers. Without a second thought, he tilted his head and pressed his lips gently to hers.

“Thanks for always having the right words.”

(Y/N) smiled, running her fingers one last time over his hair, “You’re welcome.” She moved off his lap and curled into his side wrapping one arm around his waist.

In the barn, Cain stomps on Dean’s chest, “It’s called the Mark of Cain for a reason. First… first, you’d kill Crowley. There’d be some strange, mixed feelings on that one, but you’d have your reason. You’d get it done, no remorse. And then you’d kill the angel, Castiel. Now, that one… that I suspect would hurt something awful. And then!”

Cain lunges to the ground, kneeling over Dean and holding the Blade across his throat. As Cain is talking, Dean sees the knife tucked under his coat.

“Then would come the murder you’d never survive, the one that would finally turn you into as much of a savage as it did me.”

Dean firmly says, “No.”

“Your brother, Sam. The only thing standing between you and that destiny is this Blade. You’re welcome, my son.”

Cain raises his hand to plunge the First Blade into Dean. Dean grabs Cain’s knife from his belt and cuts off Cain’s hand at the wrist, the one holding the First Blade. Blood spurts from his wrist. Cain falls over, grabbing his wrist. Dean gets up and grabs both blades as Cain gets to his knees.

“What’s the matter?” Cain asked, eerily calm.

Dean, frightened and tearfully says, “Tell me I don’t have to do this. Tell me that you’ll stop. Tell me that you can stop!”

Cain confirms what they both already know, “I will never stop.”

Dean walks behind Cain as he lowers his head. He raises his arm up and plunges the First Blade into Cain. Thunder booming in the background. A very bruised Dean walks down the stairs to where Sam, Castiel and Crowley are waiting.

SAM worriedly asks, “Dean?”

“Dean, the Blade.” Crowley interjects holding his hand out.

Dean looks at the blade, walks toward Crowley and then hands the blade to Castiel.

Crowley annoyed, “You lied to me.”

“It’s not the first time today. Cain’s list… you weren’t on it.”

Dean looks at Crowley, and then to Cas. When he looks back Crowley has vanished. Dean collapses onto Sam, who holds him up.

“And that’s when I stabbed Jared in the leg.” He chuckled.

(Y/N) laughed softly with him, “Every time I watch this episode I think of that day. Jared bleeding on set and pushing through the next few takes before finally having to bandage the cut. Him never letting you live it down that you stabbed him.”

“I felt so bad for it happening.” He admitted, “After a week of him continually bringing it up I got over the guilt and threatened to stab him again.”

Dean’s bloody knuckles holding a cup. Dean, who is quite hurt, sits at the kitchen table in the Bunker drinking coffee.

Sam stands by the coffee maker and pours himself a cup, “Dean, um, you know, what you did back there… it was incredible. You know, if you can do that without losing yourself…” Sam sits at the table across from Dean.

“That’s cause for hope, even without a cure.”

Dean is pensive as he speaks, “Yeah. Maybe.”

Castiel walks into the room catching Dean’s attention, “So, where’s the Blade?”

“Somewhere safe.” Castiel answers simply.

“Good. Well, if you guys will excuse me, I think I am gonna go sleep for about four days.” Dean gets up walking towards the entryway where Castiel is standing.

Sam nods, “Of course.”

As Dean passes Castiel he pats him on the shoulder with a small smile before letting it drop when he is in the hallway. Fear flashing across his face.

“How is he? Sam?”

“Cas…” Sam looks as if he’s about to cry, “Dean’s in trouble.”

Jensen turned off the TV before the credits began rolling, “Oh boy was he ever…”

“That scene and the one with Cain in the barn are why this is one of my favorite episodes. Dean’s tough guy act drops and we can see he’s truly fearful for what may happen to him. You’re so good at showing exactly how Dean is feeling without even saying a single word.”

A burst of pride swelled in his chest, “Thank you. That’s the best compliment I could ever receive.”

They cleaned up the living room and Jensen held out his hand to her, “Come on. I have something I want to show you.”

He led her down stairs to the larger of the guest rooms where the door was shut. He stood in front of it facing her as she let out a long yawn.

“I promise to make this quick and then off to bed.” She nodded as he continued, “When we were watching Jared’s kiddos, you said that you missed writing…”

“Yeah, writer’s block is a bitch.” She chuckled.

“I figured from all the stress you had while teaching and then leaving the job you loved most. I thought maybe having a space of your own to openly be creative would help.”

Jensen opened the door and flipped the light on. Inside the room, he built floating shelves along one entire wall with a large oversized chair and rolling cart beneath them.

He had put together a ‘U’ shape desk along a shorter wall with each side of the desk running along a wall. On one side was a hutch to store anything she wanted to and on the opposite side were a few more floating shelves. In the center of her desk was a brand new laptop with a docking station that had two twenty-seven inch monitors running off it with a printer beside them. Her computer chair had massage, heating and cooling settings to make the hours she hopefully would be sitting there more comfortable.

He had also put together three storage units to keep her various art items or paper or whatever she needed. He painted the room in a warm cream color with an olive border around the top of the walls. He was able to install a new ceiling fan that matched the color of the border with soft bulb lighting.

Jensen nervously watched (Y/N) look around and take in her new office, “So? What do you think?”

When she turned towards him, Jensen saw tears shining in her eyes, “This… This is amazing Jay. H-How… why?”

“Like I said, I wanted you to have a spot where you could create. Hopefully, once you have it all set up to your liking and personalized, that inspiration will strike.”

(Y/N) closed the distance between them, wrapping her arms around his waist, “I love it. I’m undeserving of it, but I love it and you for thinking of doing this.”

His heart skipped, “You are more than deserving of this. Now, let’s get to bed so you can start filling this room with books and art.”

She kissed his lips briefly before taking one last look around. They walked up to their rooms, when (Y/N) stopped grasping his hand when they were in front of her room.

“Do you… I mean, would it be okay if I…” She looked at her feet bashfully.

She did not need to finish the question. Jensen pulled her into his side and led her into his room. She immediately crawled onto the bed and settled in on her side. Jensen pulled off his shirt, but kept his pj bottoms on, laying down beside her. (Y/N) pressed her back against his chest and pulled his arm across her waist.

“Goodnight Jay.”

He pressed his lips into her soft hair, “Goodnight pretty girl.”

Jensen was completely out of his element walking into the Padalecki home. Jared and Gen were going out on a much needed date night and had asked (Y/N) to babysit the kids. That meant Jensen was also coming along to help babysit. He loved all three Padalecki kids and would take a bullet for any of them, but being responsible for their well being was a totally different thing.

“Are you guys sure? We could always reschedule to another night when Mama and Pop Padalecki are available.”

(Y/N) shook her pushing Gen out the door, “We’ll be fine. Go out, have fun and come back late tomorrow morning.”

Jared raised an eyebrow towards him silently asking, “Are you alright with this?”

Jensen nodded without saying a word. He missed the silent conversations he could have with his best friend. Words were hardly needed between them and there was something comforting about that.

“Babe, come on, they’ve got this.” Jared wrapped his arm around her shoulders and led her out towards their car.

They kissed and said goodnight to their kids and the five of them watched the car drive down their driveway. Odette grabbed ahold of (Y/N)’s hand and started dragging her off towards the living room. Shep bounced off towards the backyard to find what Jensen was sure to be whatever bugs he could.

Tom looked up at him, “Is it alright if I go read up in my room, Uncle Jensen?”

“Sure buddy. I’ll come up and check on ya in a little while.”

Jensen watched him walk up the stairs, trying to remember when exactly Tom had grown into a young man. It felt like yesterday, Tom was calling out for Jensen backstage at a convention and stealing the limelight. Now, he was ten going on twenty and he found himself wishing time would stop.

“Uncle Jensen! Uncle Jensen! Look what I found!” Shep came running into the house holding a small lizard in his hands.

He chuckled, “That’s awesome, Shep. How about we go return him to his home outside so your Aunt (Y/N) doesn’t freak out.”

He walked with Shep outside and they found a great spot in the garden for Lizzy the Lizard to live. It was an unusually cool night for Texas at the end of July making it the perfect night for a fire and smores. Jensen enlisted Shep to help gather all the materials to get a fire going in the firepit and he sent a text to (Y/N) to gather the items for smores.

“Shep, why don’t you help Aunt (Y/N) while I go get Tom.”

They walked back inside and Shep immediately was by (Y/N)’s side. Jensen walked upstairs to Tom’s room, knocking on the door that was only open an inch. Walking in, he found Tom on his bed reading a graphic novel called ‘Crush’.

“Buddy, we’ve built a fire and are making smores. Why don’t you bring your book with you and hang out with us.”

“Okay.” Tom shut his book but did not move from his spot, “Uncle Jensen?”

“Yeah?”

Tom’s dark brown eyes did not look up from his bed, “How do you… how do you know if a girl likes you?”

It did not take a rocket scientist to see what was going on inside the boy’s mind, “There’s lots of ways. Sometimes she’ll hang out with you and your friends or be nice to you more than she is to others. Then some girls act like they don’t like you when they really do.”

“That’s confusing and makes no sense.”

“Oh buddy, it only gets worse when you get to be as old as me.” Jensen chuckled, “Is there a girl you think likes you?”

Tom nodded.

“Do you like her?”

He shrugged, “She’s my best friend, that’s a girl. We talk about all kinds of things and I can tell her anything.”

Jensen smiled softly, “All good things. Why do you think she likes you, likes you?”

“Her best friend told me at lunch that at a sleepover when they were playing truth or dare Ruby said she had a crush on me.”

The anxiety in his voice made Jensen’s heart clench, “And how did that make you feel?”

“Happy and confused.” Tom looked up at him finally with genuine fear, “I like the way things are right now and I don’t want them to change. I like her being my best friend and if we hang out like the other kids that are boyfriend/girlfriend then everything will change.”

His chest tightened as this ten year old, little man described him and (Y/N) perfectly. His heart ached for the kid who should not be thinking about dating at all but that was the times they lived in. Jensen sat next to Tom on the bed and pulled him under his arm.

“The only advice I can tell you is to be honest with her. Tell her that you think she’s great and wonderful and that’s why you want nothing to change between you two.”

“What if she gets mad at me?” A single tear ran down his cheek.

Jensen hugged him a little tighter, “If she gets mad then she really wasn’t the friend you thought she was. She’ll understand and stay by your side if she truly likes you.”

Finally, a smile appeared on Tom’s face before he wrapped his arms around him, “Thanks Uncle Jensen.”

“You’re welcome buddy. Now, let’s go eat some smores.”

Tom picked up his book, heading towards the door, “Hi Aunt (Y/N)!”

“Hey kiddo, will you help your siblings take everything outside.”

He nodded before running down the stairs. Jensen stood walking towards (Y/N), who was leaning against the doorframe.

“You know, you’re wonderful with him. You’re gonna be a great dad one day.”

In his mind an image formed so clearly he swore it could have been a memory. He and (Y/N) sitting on a porch swing as two little ones sat on either side of them. His heart pounded against his chest then dropped when he blinked once again standing in Tom’s room.

“I… I guess so, if that ever happens. If not, then no big deal. I have nephews and nieces to be there for.”

He swore within her beautiful eyes, he saw disappointment flashed before them before she turned walking down the stairs.

Making smores with the kids was more fun than Jensen had anticipated. Helping them roast their marshmallows and getting chocolate over their hands and faces. (Y/N) pulled out her phone, snapping a picture of the five of them to send to Gen.

The five of them were laying on their backs looking up into the night sky. Tom and Shep were trying to count the stars shining above them as the girls were whispering to one another. That is when another idea popped into Jensen’s mind.

“I’ll be right back.”

He went into the house and to the linen closet upstairs. He grabbed all the blankets he could and pillows from the spare bedrooms. Heading back down to the living he got to work on the next portion of their evening. About twenty minutes later he stuck his head out the back door.

“Y’all get your behinds inside it’s time for a movie.” He called out.

The small gasps and squeals that came from the kids would be well worth the hell he would pay from Gen when she would see her living room. A larger blanket tent stood in the middle of the room. Inside, all the cushions and pillows from the house were spread out on the floor. The blankets vaulted up to the walls that the TV was hanging on.

“You guys go put your pjs on, grab your pillows and blankets. Then we’ll pick out a movie to watch.”

The three kids all hugged him excitedly before running up the stairs. (Y/N) wrapped her arms around his waist. Standing there with her in his arms and the echoes of little feets above stirred something deep within him.

“Jensen, this is amazing… you’re amazing.” She pressed his lips against his cheek, “I’m going to go make some popcorn.”

The kids were running back in as she walked into the kitchen. Tom had stepped into the room seeing (Y/N) pull away from him. He looked down at him and saw the knowing look in his eyes. Tom walked over to him and patted his arm nodding at him.

The kids had decided to watch Rava the Last Dragon Hunter which Jensen knew absolutely nothing about. He and (Y/N) sat next to one another, their backs against the couch. Shep immediately curled into (Y/N)’s other side while Tom was content at laying at their feet. Which left Odette kneeling nearing the opening for their blanket tent.

“Sweetie, come on in and lay down.” (Y/N) said as Odette’s large doe eyes looked from her then to Jensen.

He could see why Jared was wrapped around her little finger and patted the spot next to him, “Come on sweetheart, you can sit next to me.”

Carrying her blanket, she sat beside him and he wrapped his arm around her so she could lay her head on him. He stretched his other arm across the couch as (Y/N) pressed play. By the time the movie was half over, the kids were fast asleep.

“Should we take them upstairs?” Jensen asked softly.

(Y/N) shook her head, “No, let’s just let them sleep here. I can stay down here with them and you can take the guest room.”

Jensen lifted Odette and laid her on the couch with her blanket. He laid down on his side propping his pillow up.

“If you’re staying then I’m staying.” He patted the small space between them, “Come on, laid down and get comfy.”

(Y/N) took the remote and turned on their next episode of Supernatural, “If they wake up then we can stop the episode.”

Sam is working on the map table as Dean walks in through the door upstairs.

“Hey. How’d it go with Kevin?” Sam asked.

“Oh, that little nerd is in a lovely warded hotel room in Branson. He’s got about 48 hours of pay-per-porn and Kenny Rogers ahead of him.”

(Y/N) chuckled, “I was always curious what Kevin would be into. He seems like the librarian and student type.”

“You’ll have to ask Osric at our next convention.”

She turned towards him with a huge smile, “Ohhh… JIB, I’ll pretend to be a fan and ask during his panel.”

Jensen started laughing and (Y/N) suddenly covered his mouth. Shep stirred next to her, rolling to his side and curling up with his stuffed animal. Without a second though, Jensen playfully licked her hand like he would when they were kids. He was prepared for her disgusted snare and grumbling. However, he was met with a spark of desire in her eyes that surprised him.

She shook her head then stuck her tongue out at him mumbling, “Gross.”

“Turns out the company I work for was outsourcing to child labor, so I took a big Wikileak all over that. And, yeah. It’s cool, though. It’s given me more time to focus on my hobbies… like larping, macrame, and hunting.” Charlie casually mentions.

“Excuse me?” Dean looks alarmed as Sam also looks concerned.

Charlie sighed, “Okay. It was just a couple little cases. I took down a teenage vampire and a ghost… which sounds like a Y.A. novel if you say it out loud.”

Sam asks, still concerned, “Charlie, how’d it go?”

“It was, uh… It was intense. But I kind of wish hunting was more…magical, you know?”

Dean rolls his eyes and Sam looks confused.

“I love that Charlie wants a fantasy adventure. I love the world she lives in within her mind.” (Y/N) leaned her head on his shoulder, “I wish sometimes I could live in a fantasy world.”

“Escaping reality is one of the reasons I went into acting. I get to live many lives.” He looked down at her as she slipped her arm around his waist.

She sighed, “That’s why I always wrote, not that I’ve done that in forever. I miss writing.”

Jensen was racking his brain trying to remember the last time he saw her writing. There was a time (Y/N) would not go anywhere without a notebook and pen. He could remember her writing during dinners out with friends or in the car on road trips.

“There’s no better time than the present to pick up your pen again. Especially, since you’re taking some time off.”

She shrugged another heavy sigh coming from her lips as the episode continued.

The bunker’s kitchen is a complete wreck. The boys enter with guns drawn.

Dean looks around annoyed, “Damn it, I just cleaned in here.”

“Really?” Sam shakes his head.

“Looks like we got a witch here.” Dean states as Charlie and Dorothy enter.

The boys swing around guns drawn. When they see it’s the girls they put them away.

Charlie holds out her hand, “Sorry. We raided your gun range. Made us some poppy bullets. They won’t kill the witch, but they will stun the crap out of her.”

Dean proudly looks down at her taking the bullets, “That’s my girl.”

“I love their friendship. Reminds me a lot of us.” (Y/N) snuggled closer pulling her blanket up tucking it beneath her chin.

Jensen brought his arm down around her. An unsettling feeling bubbling in his stomach. Dean always thought of Charlie as a little sister. He was protective of her. He loved her as a sister, a kindred spirit. However, he felt more for (Y/N). She was his best friend and he was extremely protective of her as Dean was of Charlie. For him, that is where the similarities stopped. He was in love with (Y/N) and could envision spending the rest of his life with her.

He looked down to see (Y/N) had fallen asleep. Glancing around seeing Tom sleeping at the end of their feet, Shep curled up beside (Y/N) and Odette turned onto her side, her little hand falling onto his shoulder. The churning of his stomach calmed and he let out a relaxing breath. This moment, with (Y/N) and kids, this was what he truly wanted. He continued to watch the rest of the episode enjoying the moment of what life could be for him.

Dean wistfully asked, “Think she’ll be back?”

“Of course. There’s no place like home.”

Home. That is what he felt with (Y/N) in his arms and kids around them. Home.

Jensen could hear murmuring voices and soft giggles as the fog of sleep evaporated from his mind. He peeked open his eyes to see Jared and Gen standing in front of them, the blanket fort gone. Jared was holding Odette as Gen was hugging the boys.

“Good morning sleepy head.” (Y/N) walked into the room holding two cups of coffee, “A little wake up juice for you.”

“Thanks.” He took the cup taking a sip as her, Gen and the kids went into the kitchen, “What time is it?”

“A little after nine. I was not expecting a fort in my living room when I came home.” Jared chuckled.

Jensen joined him in laughing, “Sorry, I was going to clean up before y’all got home.”

He was surprised when Jared clapped his hand on his shoulder, “Don’t be sorry. What we walked in on was truly a sight to behold.”

Jared pulled out his phone and within a minute Jensen’s phone was vibrating in his pocket. Jared got up joining the others in the kitchen. Jensen looked at the photo Jared had sent and his heart nearly stopped.

Tom had his back pressed against Jensen’s while Odette had apparently wiggled her way between him and (Y/N). Jensen’s arm was resting along (Y/N)’s arm beneath it and their hand clasped together. Shep was curled into her and his hand resting on her chest.

They looked like the perfect family and Jensen’s heart ached to have that in his life.

The next week, Jensen and (Y/N) headed into season eight of Supernatural. The last few nights of watching the show together finally felt like old times again. Tonight, (Y/N) was out with some of her fandom friends and had given him specific instructions for her return.

“I’m going to leave the bar at ten o’clock on the dot and should be home no later than ten-thirty. I expect the living room to be all set for us to watch at least one if not two episodes before you turn into a pumpkin.”

Jensen looked down at his phone that read midnight and (Y/N) was nowhere to be found. Her last text had said she was getting ready to leave in five minutes. That had been thirty minutes ago. He was past the concern and worried stage. He now had moved on to imagining the worst and pissed. Getting up he grabbed the bowl of cold popcorn heading towards the kitchen. Dumping in the trash, he went back for her favorite water bottle and his empty beer bottle. Placing her bottle in the fridge and his in recycle, Jensen went back into the living folded her blanket and turned off everything.

He paced in his room looking out his window towards the driveway for a cab to pull up. At one o’clock he finally stripped off his sweats and t-shirt, crawling into bed. His calls and texts were going unanswered. Lying there in full panic mode, he tried to reassure himself that everything was fine.

Her phone died and forgot her extra charger.

The friends she was out with were long time, trusted friends that would take care of no matter what.

If she was too trashed then they would have let her crash at one of their places.

Unfortunately, none of these friends knew about him because they were all fans. (Y/N) had met them online ten or so years ago on a Supernatural website. Once a month, they would go out and let loose. She did not want any of them freaking out or treating her differently because her best friend happened to be the star of their favorite show.

Right now, he was kicking himself for not insisting on meeting them or at least having someone’s number in case of emergencies. Jensen pulled his pillow over face pleading with his mind to calm down. Reminding himself that she was a grown ass woman who could take care of herself. It was then that his phone rang with a local unknown number.

“Hello?”

“Jensen, i-it’s (Y/N)…”

He shot up, “Thank god, where the hell are you? Are you okay?”

She sniffled, “Um, yes and no. I need you to come get me from the downtown Austin police station.”

“What happened?” Jensen was already out of bed and struggling to get his clothes on, “Nevermind, are you alright?”

“I will be once you get here. I’m going to put the officer on the phone for all the information you’ll need.”

The officer told him exactly where to pick her up and that she was not under arrest. Grabbing his keys, he drove like a bat out of hell making it to downtown Austin in record time. He pulled on his baseball cap pulling it down as far as he could. Between that and his sweatshirt and pants he prayed no one would recognize him. Not that he cared about what people thought of him but to not make things more difficult for (Y/N).

He was taken into an interview room where (Y/N) was sitting with all her friends surrounding her. The collective gasp was deafening as he walked in. A few jaws dropped and more than a few eyes traveled the length of his body. Pulling off the hat, he went straight in front of (Y/N) kneeling in front of her.

“Pretty girl, I’m here and everything will be okay.”

A few sighs and awes echoed around them as (Y/N) launched herself into his arms nearly knocking him over. Her body trembled against him as muffled sobs came from her. The officer came into the room clearing his throat.

“Everyone is free to go. We’ll need contact information for Miss (Y/L/N) so our detectives can speak to her when she is able to.”

He looked over his shoulder, “I can provide you a number that she can be reached at.”

“I can call cabs for the rest of you to get home.” The officer went to leave.

Jensen called out, “Officer, there’s no need. These ladies are my roommate’s friends and they can…” he paused to consider the words about to come out of his mouth, “they can stay with me for the night. Thank you for everything.”

The officer nodded leaving the room. Jensen turned back to see five sets of wide eyes and dumbfounded expressions. He felt (Y/N) lift her head from his chest, looking down into her shining eyes.

“T-Thank you, Jay.”

He hugged her, whispering in her ear, “Only for you, pretty girl.”

She let go of him and went into the arms of one of the ladies as they all walked out to his SUV. The whole way home, Jensen kept looking back at (Y/N). Her head was resting on one of her friend’s shoulders wiping away tears from time to time. Once they were at home, (Y/N) gathered them all in the living room and grabbed Jensen’s hand.

“First, thank you for having my back and protecting me tonight. You ladies are my rock and I love you.”

Jensen squeezed her hand as she continued.

“I know I have a lot to explain and you can ask me all the questions when we wake up later today. For now, I will make introductions. Kit, Ivy, Morgan, Brooke and Taylor, this is my childhood best friend, Jensen. Jay, meet my small corner of the SPN family.”

“Nice to meet you ladies, finally. Thank you for taking care of her tonight. I truly appreciate y’all always being there for her.”

They all murmured a hello in unison staring at him as if he would disappear any moment. He let go of her hand running it down her back.

“(Y/N), can show you where to sleep.” He turned towards her, “I’ll be up for a while if you need me for anything.”

She wrapped her arms around his waist, “Thank you.”

He watched the six of them head downstairs to the finished family room. When he could hear them chatting and giggling, Jensen went up to his room. Flopping down on his bed, he let out a long sigh releasing the tension from his body. He threw his arm over his eyes, taking a few more deep breaths to calm the buzzing nerves in his stomach. He was desperate to find out what had happened.

Jensen looked up when he heard his door creak open. Standing in the doorway was (Y/N) with her favorite blanket wrapped around her. He sat up and patted the spot next to him. She immediately climbed onto the bed and they laid back, snuggled into one another.

“They’ve passed out, so you should be safe.”

“Good to know. I’m still going to lock my door, just in case.” He chuckled, letting the silence fall between them.

He waited a few minutes before asking, “Do you want to talk about it?”

(Y/N)’s body tensed, “We went to this new gaming bar off 6th street. As you can see, my friends are all gorgeous and a few guys were buying us all drinks.”

“Oh no… not tequila…”

She laughed, “No. I was whiskey drinking all night…”

“That’s my girl.”

She rolled her eyes but her lips curled into a smirk, “One guy took a particular interest in me. We talked about D&D, video games, books. He was nearly as perfect as you are.”

Jensen scoffed, “I’m far from perfect. Go on about Mr. Almost Perfect.”

“I went over my whiskey limit and stepped outside to get some air. He followed me outside and placed his jacket over my shoulders.” She began to shake within his grasp.

He laced his legs with hers, pulling flesh with his body, “You’re safe. I’m right here and I won’t let anything happen to you.”

“When he stepped in front of me, he crossed the sleeves and pulled them tight until I couldn’t move. He started to move me towards a dark color van that was parked at the corner. In the driver’s seat…”

She pulled back and within her eyes was pure fear, “Did you recognize the driver?”

“It was Doug.”

It took him a minute for the recognition to hit him, “You’re old Assistant Principal? The one you knocked out for forcing himself on you?”

She nodded and blood began to boil. It was moments like this when Jensen would ask himself, ‘What would Dean Winchester do?’

“I’m gonna kill him.”

(Y/N) sighed, “He’s not worth it. The officers are going to go question him and suggest I get a restraining order against him.”

Jensen gently rolled her back onto the mattress, looking down at her tear stain face. The rich smell of whiskey mixing with her sweet apple body spray created the perfect storm of comfort and desire over his body. Her lips resting in a natural pout that was taking every bit of his will power to keep from resting his own against. (Y/N)’s shining eyes staring up at him as his mind fought with his body at what the next move should be.

Moving a strand of her hair from her face, cupping her cheek he reassured her, “We will do whatever it takes to make sure you’re safe and never have to deal with that asshole again. I don’t care how many lawyers and favors I have to call in or how much it will cost. You’re the most important person in my life.”

“Thank you.” She whispered before slipping her hand behind his neck and pulling his lips to hers.

For that mere moment of time, everything in Jensen’s world was perfect. (Y/N)’s body pressed against his and his body instinctively reacted without consulting his mind. He braced himself over her only breaking the kiss to take a breath. Her legs wrapped around his waist and her hands tugged at his hair. (Y/N)’s hips rolled against him and a moan rumbled from his chest.

As his mind screamed at him to stop, she pressed her hands against his chest pushing him away slightly, “We’ve… got to… stop…” She said in between heavy breaths.

“I know…” He pressed his forehead against her, “I don’t want to.”

“Me neither, but we can’t. I like how things are between us right now and I don’t want them to change. Feelings, sex, that will change everything and I’m not ready. I thought I was, but after Jared’s party I realized I’m not.” She groaned, “Fuck, I’m such a terrible person for leading you on.”

Jensen scooped her up and sat back bringing her firmly onto his lap. He groaned from the pressure on his hard cock, but ignored the throbbing radiating up his body.

“Stop thinking that right now (Y/N) (Y/L/N).” Once again, he pressed his forehead to hers, “I love our friendship and how close we are. If you don’t want it to change then it won’t. I’ve been by your side through the good, bad and ugly. I’ll continue to be by your side no matter what the status of our relationship is. Friends or more, I’m not going anywhere.”

“I don’t deserve you…” She whispered, “But I’m grateful that you’re in my life.”

“Me too pretty girl. Now let’s get some sleep before the fangirls wake up and take advantage of my unconscious body.”

The sound of her soft giggle was like a beautiful melody floating through his ears. Laying back down, within a few minutes (Y/N) was asleep. Jensen spent a few moments watching her as his mind and body wrestled for control. When his mind won over his exhausted form, he wrapped his arm around her and fell asleep.

The next morning, Jensen woke to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and bacon. He got up heading downstairs to hear his own voice coming from the TV.

“Well, the FBI is all work…” Dean looks over to Sam, “no play.”

Sam gives Dean a pointed look before turning towards the Sheriff, “You know, why don’t you give me the tour while my partner looks around?

“I work better on my own.”

The living room was filled with women eating breakfast and laughing at the scene on the screen. He folded his arms over his chest enjoying seeing (Y/N) surrounded by her friends.

One of Ed’s arms is on the floor, covered with a bloodstained cloth. Sam pulls back the cloth, revealing the black tree symbol.

“Huh. So, anything… missing from the body?”

“You mean aside from the arms and legs? Uh…” The Sheriff chuckles, “nope. All there – twig and berries, too.”

(Y/N)’s beautiful giggle caught his attention as she was staring at, “Speaking of…” She motioned with her hand toward him.

A collective gasp came from the other women as he looked down at himself. He was standing in the middle of a room full of fans in nothing but his boxer briefs. Which left little to the imagination of what was being held within them.

“I’m literally living in my worst nightmare right now.” He muttered.

(Y/N) got up, wrapping her green blanket around him, “You should probably go upstairs and get dressed. I won’t be able to hold them all back if you don’t run now.”

“Running.” He whispered as another chorus of disappointed groans came from the women.

“Party pooper!” One called out.

Jensen went back upstairs to take care of himself, shower and get dressed. Deciding he could play himself up a little for the fans downstairs, he decided to wear one of his favorite Dean flannels and relaxed jeans that had a hole in the knee. Returning to the living he found himself standing next to Felicia Day on the TV.

Sam hung up his phone, “So, the toxicology report came back on Lance. Nothing. But the medical examiner said his body showed clear signs that he was killed by belladonna.”

Dean and Charlie simultaneously spoke, “The porn star?”

There is a long pause.

Sam unamused, “The poison.”

Once again Dean and Charlie disappointedly say at the same time, “Oh.”

“My nerd queen! I will forever bow to her greatness!” (Y/N) dramatically bowed in front of the TV.

“Wait, how are you BFFs with Jensen Ackles and never met Felicia Day?”

(Y/N) chuckled, “Oh I’ve met her. We text all the time. That doesn’t mean she is not my queen and I, a humble peasant of her nerd court.”

“She totally fangirled the first time she met her.”

Several pairs of eyes snapped to him and one pair glaring at him, “Don’t even go there Ackles. Not unless you want all the embarrassing stories I know about you to be told.”

Their eyes snapped back to her, “Ohhh, we definitely want to hear some of those stories.”

“Alright, alright. You win, pretty girl. I’ll keep my lips zipped.”

He made his way into the kitchen grabbing some coffee and bacon before joining the rest of them. Thankfully, (Y/N) had secured him a spot with her on the oversized chair. He tried to ignore the obvious stares they were getting from her friends as the episode continued.

As the episode came to its conclusion, (Y/N) shushed them all during Dean’s reciting of the Braveheart speech, “This is my favorite part!”

Epic music plays and mist rises. Two armies of costumed LARPers are lined up facing each other. Dean, in costume and wearing a long-haired wig, addresses Charlie’s army. Half his face is painted red and part of the other half painted white. He wears two orc ears on a string around his neck.

“And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days, from this day to that, for one chance –”

Sam stands in costume next to Charlie. His hair is in a ponytail. Two opposite quarters of his face are painted red and a further quarter white.

Charlie begins to ask, “Isn’t that the speech from –”

Sam nods, “It’s the only one he knows.”

Dean continues his speech, “Just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they will never take… “

“Hold!” A squire in Charlie’s army calls out.

The music comes to a stop. A Frisbee sails onto the ground in the space between the two armies and a man runs after it. People in the armies mutter.

The man murmurs, “Uh, my bad.”

“Really?” One of the LARPers says.

The man picks up the Frisbee and runs away muttering, “Sorry.”

The same LARPer, “You can’t be serious.”

“Freaks.” Another Frisbee player calls out towards the armies.

Dean turns back to the army and nods to the squire, who gives him a thumbs-up. The music resumes.

He raises and shakes his fake sword, “…our freedom!”

The armies cheer and run at one another. The camera focuses on Sam and Dean running side by side, swords raised. The frame freezes on this image, and the following text, narrated by a man, scrolls up the screen in cursive script.

“This episode is dedicated to the men, women, elves, demigods, magi, druids and chamber pot servants who gave their lives fighting and winning for the Queen of Moons in the Battle of the Kingdoms. Go bravely into the next world, fallen soldiers.”

(Y/N) recited the dedication standing tall with a salute. Jensen noticed her friends rolling their eyes and chuckling at her. She turned towards them, flipping them off.

“Y’all don’t know what you’re missing with LARPing.”

“Oh we know, from all the times you’ve told us and made us watch this episode. We’re okay with missing out.” Morgan chuckled.

They all ended up watching a few more episodes before he took them all back to their cars. Jensen waited until they were all out of the parking lot making sure none of them were followed by any other cars.

(Y/N) reached over, lacing her fingers with his, “Thank you for letting my friends stay and being so cool with them. You have no idea how much it means to them.”

“I’m glad I got to meet them finally. We should have them over more often and then the whole celebrity thing will wear off. They’ll see me as a regular ole guy.”

She chuckled, “Yeah… not likely to happen, but I agree. We should have them over more and for that you have now reached god level perfection. Congrats.”

“If you say so, pretty girl.” He laughed, pulling out of the parking lot.
