Over the past few weeks Ireland has suddenly found itself in a heated debate around the term ‘homophobia’ after an interview with, and subsequent censorship of, Rory O'Neill (AKA Panti Bliss) on The Saturday Night Show. This discussion is no longer about the proposed referendum on marriage equality, it has become a question of equality - something that is not true for Irish gay men, gay women, women and other minority groups.

Ireland is a beautiful country, and the homophobia is not the type present in many other countries around the world but there has to be change. And thankfully there are people like Rory O'Neill who are not afraid to have an open discussion about it.
