There are some places that I hike over and over again, simply because they’re close to home. Some spots eventually start to bore me a little, just because it’s the same old thing every time.

That never seems to be the case with Round Valley Reservoir. Every time I reach the water’s edge, I am humbled. It’s such a beautiful place. The water is crystal blue and reminds me of the Bahamas, yet it’s right down route 22.

The hiking trails around the reservoir are gorgeous, too. Lots of pine trees, which make everything smell wonderful. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re a NJ native – or just passing through.
