On 3rd of March, 1984, a cyclo-cross race took place in Grenoble. In this alpine french city, racers faced snowy conditions in La Bastille, around a 17th century fortress overlooking the city. The road was blocked to access the hills surrounding the town so people joined the race in cable cars.

With 8 inches of snow covering the hilly course, 28 racers started, and Larbi Midoune from Saint-Etienne took the victory. There was a only a handful of spectators, with some of them on nordic skis to move around the race!
