Gravity Falls Comic-Con Poster for Disney XD
This is a bad day for Isaac Newton. I’ve completely just disrespected gravity. Dipper will still probably have to clean it up though. If you’re lucky enough to be at SDCC 2015 I’ll have a promotional poster there for Gravity Falls! I’m actually a fan of the show so this was a big deal for me. You know I had to sneak a little Bill Cipher in there.

‘Ophiuchus’ for Gallery Nucleus’ 'Yesterday’s Tomorrow’
The new zodiac symbol, constellation Ophiuchus, the man wrestling with the serpent. It’s a metaphor for our constant struggle with knowledge and the unknown.
The show is about retro futurism of the 50’s and 60’s. It’s interesting to see these wild things we though would happen and how they would look in comparison to where we ended up.

Ayyy, who remembers Sebastian from DA2? Yellow Dafodil’s are actually a metaphor for Chivalry. The kiss however also comes with thorns~
Another bittersweet conclusion! This is the last cover for Knight Errant’s five issue series. All five issues are out now so check it out if you haven’t already. Thanks as always to AD Dave Marshall!

Thanks to everyone who supported the pins! The first run of the “Taste” Pins did really well and seems like a lot of people missed out, so I’m opening pre-orders for the “Taste” Pins!
The order period will be from June 13 Tuesday 12PM PST until June 27 Tuesday 6PM PST. Once the order period is over please allow up to 6-8 weeks for orders to be fulfilled.
For international customers who missed out on the first run, it’s now going to be open worldwide for delivery!

The bad news is the print store is closing for the season next Friday. The good news is I’ll be selling some pins while it’s on break! They’ll be debuting at Gallery Nucleus’s PinPalPalooza 2017 tomorrow May 6. So if you’re in LA go check it! If not, the pins will be up on my website next Friday.

“AKUMAJOU DENSETSU for MONDO”
I got the pleasure of working on the Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse Soundtrack vinyl art. If you’ve played the game you know Dracula is the final boss and his second form is a giant brain with a bunch of heads attached to it. Only instead of demon heads I’ve placed all four of the main characters in the brains tendrils.
Sypha is the girl with the hood, Alucard with the slicked back hair and fangs, Grant with the bandana and eye patch, and Trevor with the long hair and headband.
Coming some time in March so more updates to come. I also did the back cover and interior so check back for more updates~

“Turtle Ukiyo-e” for MONDO
Here’s my other Mondo poster for the Nick Show. It’s an ukiyo-e inspired design. Ninjas didn’t really run around dressed up as ‘ninjas’, would defeat the purpose of the whole incognito thing, so they’re just dressed in traditional garb.

“TMNT (ZEN) for MONDO”
I’ve been waiting to show you guys this for ages! Now that it’s on a bunch of websites announcing Mondo’s “A-Nick-Nick-Nick-Nick-N-Nick-Nick-Nick Nickelodeon Show“ at their Austin Texas Gallery from Friday December 9th through Saturday December 16th, I can finally tell you guys about it.
Since TMNT is so heavily Japanese influenced I thought it would great to play with some actual Japanese traditions. It occured to me that the four them together looked like the cairn stacking stones in zen gardens.

“Aliens” for Dark Horse Comics
Aliens #1 variant cover I did for Dark Horse’s Life and Death series. Humans are a part of the xenomorphs parasitic reproductive cycle, and they act like a hive, with a queen who lays eggs. I couldn’t help but see the bee hive metaphor. Had a lot of fun with this one!

“The Teenagers” for NEWSWEEK
Illustration I did a little while back for Newsweek for an article juxtaposing teenagers of the 60′s with teenagers today. So one half of the spread is Twister circles and the other half is apps. I always appreciate when I get the opportunity to draw woc. You’d be surprised how often some people try to steer you in the away from depicting poc or women for that matter, because “this article isn’t about that.” As if it needs to be. So props to my art director for letting me do my thing!

Anime Expo Artist Alley 2016!
Hi Everyone! Good news and bad news. The bad news is that the print store will be closing for the season, and will not return for several months. The good news is I’ll be tabling for the first time at Anime Expo 2016 Artist Alley in Los Angeles!
I guess the secrets out for anyone who got the AX table placements. I’m at coordinates F8 for now. If and when I get a table number I’ll let you guys know since I’ll be updating with new info periodically as we get closer to AX.
It’s my first con! I plan on doing more in the future like MoCCA, SPX and others next year, but for now let’s see how this goes. See you in a few weeks!

“It’s Too Wild For You To Handle“ For Gallery Nucleus
Gallery Nucleus is hosting a Bartkira Nuclear Edition Book Launch & Exhibition and the opening reception is tonight, Saturday April 9th from 7-10 pm PST.
The title of the piece is a direct quote from Akira, “I customized this bike for myself! It’s too wild for you too handle.“ The motorcycle is a metaphor and foreshadowing for Tetsuo loosing control, and being too thirsty for power he can’t handle. And in both cases Bartneda/ Kanebart, gets caught up because of Tetsuhouse/ Milsuo.
