Ipvex the undead sahuagin
Before finding Zanthos, we had been told by a devil to find the sahuagin Ipvex because he knew things we needed. After naively enabling some sahuagin internecine genocide - how were we to know that “negotiate a peace treaty on our behalf” meant “play the role of bait in our murderous bait-and-switch rampage”? - we were told how to find the resting place of Ipvex the Exile (”dead to us” is a better translation).
What we didn’t fully comprehend is that the “resting place” and “dead” parts were highly indicative descriptions - Ipvex is totally undead; easily a vampire, maybe a lich? Turns out he was super helpful and the only thing he asked in return if we could bring him a component for this end-of-the-world project he’s working on. Sure thing!
