Anyone who’s ever seen Chris Marker’s ‘’La Jetée’’ will remember the moment when the woman in the photo came alive and – did she blink? but it could as well be my imagination adding stuff up to match the memory of the powerfully playful sensation felt at the time. Either way, Varda’s subjects do a lot more than perhaps blinking sensually – they dance! The rest of the movie is no feast, but there are indeed tons of good photos (apparently 1500 pictures in total, out of 4000 Varda took while in Cuba).
