Diamond-crunched glass dusted the final floor of the skyscraper. A freezing breeze hummed through the gaping windows, shifting the finer shards and billowing out the strips of floor length red velvet curtains that still clung to a past age, as if it might come back in a snap second and bring with it the splendor that once called this space home.
