dollsahoy:

I just learned that Sideshow will be making Tonners now

They announced this sometime last year, actually. I placed my pre-order for the basic girl (Model Behavior) around xmas, and she arrived in late May. She’s nice in person, though I haven’t played with her much yet. (Dang depression’s still in the way.)

The head seems smaller in proportion than other Tonner dolls. When I do a review, I’ll compare wig sizes.

Got distracted BUT My Pretty Pony is here and she’s broken.

Like My Pretty Giftpone, her right eye doesn’t blink when you pull the lever under her chin. Unlike My Pretty Giftpone, she does have all of her parts/her ear, and that ear does work.

She also had milkeye which of course I didn’t get a good photo of before fixing. Because why would I do that?

And dust.

Anyway milkeye on old sleep eyes is usually a wax layer, which had been applied to make the eyes glossy and shiny and protect them from scratches, which has become mishapen due to either moisture, heat, or being scratched/rubbed, giving it a white cast.

Sometimes it can be remelted back into the correct gloss layer by hitting it with a blow dryer, though that poses the risk of melting hard plastic or the lashes, so I tend to not.

Another method is to get a very wee bit of machine oil (like Singer Sewing Machine oil) on a cotton swab and buff the wax right off, though only do this on the exposed iris and pupil. Don’t rub on the painted eye whites.

shiny glossy again

I think only one eye is supposed to blink, or rather, wink. (circa 2010)
