…Every day, without fail, Sasuke had an excuse to visit the Uzumaki household. Whenever Naruto saw him, no matter what he’d been feeling before, he couldn’t help but smile.
Sasuke insisted on making Itachi’s grave by hand. It wasn’t much–a weathered rock, an Uchiha crest carved in front, a healthy sapling planted behind. He and Naruto didn’t even have a body to lay to rest. But it was the best they could do in the moment, and so together they worked to position the stone and plant the tree, then paid their respects in silence.
