Having an avenger as a girlfriend had its highlights and its tribulations. You loved Wanda with all of your heart, but it did mean that she would be away from home often for extended periods of time to go on missions. It was hard to have her gone for so long, often without a certain timeframe along with the dangerous type of job that she did.

You tried your best to make the most of the time that you had alone at home, often getting some extra chores done and some extra reading without distraction. This time you had ended up in a reading block, so settled on a few movies to make your way through. You’d settled done one evening a week or so after Wanda had left and watched a film. You didn’t know what it was about, but it ended up being far sadder than you expected. Tears had tumbled down your face, soaking into the front of your pyjama top as you ugly sobbed throughout the film.

All of your attention had been on the sad scenes on the screen, so intensely that you hadn’t heard Wanda come home, not until she appeared in the living room, red waves extending from her hands as she frantically looked around.

You couldn’t help but scream when she rushed into the room, having not expected to see her that day at all, let alone without hearing her enter the home.

“What’s wrong?” She asked clasping onto your arms. “What happened?”

It took you a second to settle your panicked breathing to figure out what was going on and why she seemed so worried.

“What do you mean?” You questioned.

“Why are you crying?”

Your panic immediately faltered as you giggled at your girlfriend’s expression.

“Nothing’s wrong,” you smiled. “I was watching a sad film.”

The red swirls from her hands disappeared as her eyebrows furrowed whilst she looked down at you.

“I was worried,” she berated. “I don’t see you for a week and come home to hearing you sob; I didn’t know what had happened.”

You opened your arms for her, and she happily obliged, sitting down with you on the sofa in your arms, in a long-missed embrace.

“How was the mission?” You asked, playing with her long reddish-brown hair.

“Tiring,” she sighed. “I am just happy to be home with you.”

She pressed a gentle kiss to your cheek before turning her attention to the film that was still playing on the screen. “What are you watching?”

“It’s almost finished, but we can watch another film together?” You offered.

Wanda nodded her head, settling back into the cuddle on the sofa.
