Not sure what her issue is with not locating the correct article in trials but she still has been consistent in practice. I’ve tried having people stand in as ‘judge’ people have touched the ‘off’ articles and so on. Hoping just more practice and rewarding will get her more confident to take her time and find the correct one.

I think that misunderstood how long smells can linger. I’ve heard so many mixed things with scent articles. Leave them and the dog should know the ‘hot’ scent vs old. Clean every time you trial and touch them…keep one pair for training but don’t let them touch the non scented…

Aayla has all of a sudden become unreliable and lacking in confidence for scent articles. She seems to target certain numbered articles I think I’ve scented in the past. I did some pretty poor training and let myself get frustrated and tried a NRM for her grabbing the wrong one and pretty much shut her down. For this type of behavior a NRM is bad bad bad for her.

So I’ve washed the scent articles and aired them out. We will see if that helps and if I can get her confidence up by this weekend.

If not I’m once again considering scratching her. Which is a bummer. Her go outs have been on fire as well as her signals. So this is the new issue that may cause us to scratch.
