Imperfectly Perfect Vases Made of Glass and Wood
Scott Slagerman and Jim Fishman came together to create a series of contemporary artistic vases that shows the symbiotic relationship between two materials, wood and glass that have opposing nature.
Delicate, fragile and colorful, the molten glass is hand blown in Scott Slagerman’s studio nestled in LA to fit snugly into the hollow of the wooden vessel. And for these bespoke sculptures, the dainty glass are not geometric or edgy; they are instead seen to be taken up fluidity and the eccentric shape of the wooden blocks, an unconventional tribute to imperfectly perfect beauty hidden in these inanimate objects.
The result is a stunning series of sculptures that look as if the wood and the glass pieces have been interwoven together naturally. The glass vases feel like the missing puzzle pieces that find their way to make their wooden enclosures complete.
