Your relationship with Chris had only gotten better once you started working on reducing the amount of miscommunication between you. It was something that had felt terrifying to begin with, saying exactly what you wanted and felt, but it soon became incredibly freeing. You doubted it would work with anyone else but with Chris there was that mutual respect that allowed the both of you to be 100% unapologetically honest with each other.
You could tell him you needed space and time to work because you had a big deadline coming up. He could tell you that he wanted to see you whenever he came home from doing press because you calmed him down.
It was amazing.
What you were most looking forward to now though was going back home for a week. It was coming up to Chris’ birthday and instead of everyone flying over to LA to see him, the four of you would be flying back to Massachusetts for a week. You were so excited to be in your home state again. Boston in the summer was the absolute best. You were looking forward to seeing some old friends and your parents too.

You woke up the next day with the feeling of something heavy across your abdomen. You look down to Chris’ arm draped across your stomach. You looks to the side and see Chris fast asleep his head resting on his hand, lips parted ever so slightly.
You roll over to face him, moving gently to avoid waking him. You lie there and just watch him for a while. You notice a strand on his hair out of place, so you instinctively brush it back into place. You hear Chris sigh in content as you hand moves to cup his cheek, your thumb brushing over his beard. He begins to shift, leaning into your touch. You see a smile pulling at his lips as his eyes flutter open. His bright blue eyes set their sights on yours and the small grin on his face grows into a larger one.
“Mornin’” he drawls sleep still evident in his voice.
“Morning” you smile back at him before leaning over to press your lips to his.
Chris smiles into the kiss, his hand finding your face and he moved to hover over you. He kisses you deeply as you wrap your arms around his shoulders keeping him there.

It was a slow start the morning after, the guest that stayed over slowly made their way back to their own home leaving just you and Chris. As soon as everyone has left Chris quickly found you and climbed into bed with you. Snuggling up to you as if he was a koala and you were the tree.
You had to admit you hadn’t slept as well as you thought last night. Despite the alcohol and late night it took you a while to fall asleep. So as soon as Chris climbed into bed with you it wasn’t long until the both of you were fast asleep. You had a feeling Chris also hadn’t slept well.
It was midday when the two of you woke up again. You didn’t bother to get up though, you just relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company.
“Hm, ma has invited us round for a games night if we feel up for it” Chris says looking at his phone.
“Sounds nice, hope it’s a quiet one” you mumble snuggling into him some more feeling sleepy still.
Oh damn. That has got to be something more than the story. I can’t see him blowing up like that and saying those things without something simmering under the surface for a while.

Staying at Chris’ house had been incredible, waking up and falling asleep in his arms everyday was something you’d miss when you return to LA.
You loved that you didn’t have to have you guard up constantly. You could just enjoy spending time in his company.
Another bonus was that there was practically no risk of paparazzi. You could walk around with Chris and not have to look over your shoulder.
The two of you were still careful though. You wouldn’t walk down busy streets just the two of you, only if someone else was with you. If the two of you walked dodger you’d go somewhere out of the way.
