jade-flanagan:

It’s taken me a few road trips and a few winter seasons, but I have finally finished something that’s been on my Bucket List! I don’t remember where I got the idea from, but I decided that I would accomplish snowboarding all 16 of the ski areas in Montana.

I live near Red Lodge, and grew up skiing Red Lodge Mountain. I learned to snowboard when I was about 12 or 13 and would go maybe a couple times a season. I broke my wrist there at 14, and broke my coccyx at 16. I stopped riding from that point until I was 19, when I decided to try it again. I went up by myself on Valentine’s Day 2012, it was an amazing 10 degree powder day. And on that Valentine’s Day, I fell in love with snowboarding! It has become my most favorite thing to do in the entire world.

I started working up at Red Lodge Mountain the 12-13 season and am currently on my fifth consecutive season there. I was a Lifty the first three seasons and a Social Media Coordinator and Snow Reporter both this and last season. One benefit to working there is getting tickets to other ski areas in Montana, which is one way it made it easier for me to snowboard all of them.

I began this adventure, and for the most part, I have done all the mountains solo. I enjoy being able to take time off of all my jobs for a week every season and travel along mountain ranges riding all over the place. I have favorite things about all sixteen slopesides, but mostly, I just like the exploring and being able to accomplishing my goal!

I’ve also done four mountains in Wyoming and two in Colorado. I keep trail maps of everywhere I go and keep adding them to my wall. When I wake up, I immediately see the adventures I’ve had and just can’t wait to have more! Onward and elsewhere!

Here’s what my winter was!
