I’m typically not a fan of kid characters in fighting games, and I’m very very not into anything ‘vore’, but I am a big fan of my boyfriend (aka Genasi in the SG community) so I sketched this to commemorate the first new character he developed for Skullgirls. Welcome to the crew Umbrella! Get that out of your mouth Hungern.

I decided to challenge myself to a little study in Procreate. In Skullgirls, the card illustration for Fukua’s daily ‘A Clone With My Thoughts’ isn’t as strong as the others and I wanted to reinterpret it with an image that has been seared into my brain from excitedly waking up early in the morning to watch Sailor Moon on WB when I was but a wee little lass.

The image of a character interacting with their reflection is definitely a trope in anime, but a fun one. Sailor Moon even does this several times. This particular still stands out in my mind and I think really works for the Filia/Fukua dynamic as I can see how the outdoor Sailor Moon reflection could turn sinister and the expression on Usagi’s face could be interpreted as fear or detachment.
