I don’t watch a lot of shows about the lives of teenagers/young adults any longer, but when Never Have I Ever showed up on Netflix, I knew I had to give it a try.

Devi’s life didn’t reflect my teenaged life much, but I loved that because I love seeing a desi girl on TV who isn’t just part of the ‘this is how all brown girls are’ stereotype conglomerate of media.  Ironically, what I do remember from being a teenager was being an asshole to my friends, just like Devi was, due to peer pressure/boys lmao.  I was a dumbass. XD

Also, thank you Mindy Kaling for letting Devi have wild bushy hair that isn’t straightened to hell.

Anyway,Never Have I Ever is no masterpiece.  It’s comedic, sweet, fun, enjoyable, easy to digest, and very much not ‘white-is-the-default’.  Watch it if you want!
