In celebration of @syaosakuweek which I pretty much missed I have decided to get my head out of my ass and write a series of vignettes centered around a wartime AU Syaosaku romance what am I even doing.

Theme: Syaosaku week Day 1 – Kind, Gentle;Sakura

At the age of 19, amidst fake smiles and cold hearts, families that were bare of any emotion sparing greed, ruthlessness and a thirst for power, Prince Li Xiao Lang had learnt to narrow his eyes at laughter and purse his lips at generosity. 

The day he took his first step, he’d learnt the first touch of a sword. He had learnt to sleep prepared for a knife at his throat and spent days being subjected to the worst kind of poisons in order to get stronger. 

So today, as he lies on blood-stained fields, the stench of his dead men thick in the air, he isn’t fazed. When he’d turned around to look at a familiar face, only to have a spear plunged into his gut, it didn’t surprisehim.
