Pretty exciting way to connect Adam Warlock back to the rest of Marvel… except Warlock takes one look at them and declares, “No thank you!!”

Daredevil and the Black Widow #99 (Gerber/Kweskin, May 1973). Hawkeye’s really reverting to his old shitty self. I’d be disappointed with him, except I guess it’s always on brand for Clint to be a human tire fire. Anyway, DD’s an Avenger now.

Outraged by the “blasphemous” appearance of ol’ Hornhead, Matt finds himself caught in a spiritual crisis… We haven’t even gotten to his Catholicism yet! It’s fun to see the storytelling limits loosen up to allow for this kind of villain…

The interview is worth reading just to get a sense of how brilliant and creative guys like Steve Gerber struggled under the often arbitrary restrictions of children’s animated television.
