#stupid lily of the valley

1. Lilacs smell heavenly until you smell lily of the valley. (I have smelled both of these before, of course, many times, but I haven’t been around lily of the valley in years and there’s a newly bloomed patch in the yard of the house we’re currently renting, which means there are now five perfect stems in a little juice bottle beside my bed.) 

2. This has led to me to decide realize that Jack Everdeen Katniss’s father would smell faintly of lily of the valley, because he’d tuck fragrant stems of it behind his ear to bring home for his mother or wife or daughters and his hair would catch the scent and it would be so incredibly sexy and not girly at all.

3. I am completely in love with Jack Everdeen Katniss’s father.
