Supercorp proposal involving an advent calendar. But Kara eats all the chocolate and they get engaged on December first

Lena had always considered herself excellent at giving gifts. Expensive bottles of wine and cigars to shareholders and all expenses paid vacations for Sam and Ruby. There was a time though in her life where her gifts were transactional; pulling strings at the D.A for James had nearly cost her their relationship. Hell, she had practically given Andrea CatCo after, well.. It doesn’t matter much now

But then there was Kara.

And Kara. Wow. She gave and received with such humility and earnest adoration, that naturally Lena was skeptical about someone being that enthusiastic about roses overflowing in their cramped cubicle. But some years later, after their rift, after Lex and Nyxly, when life was finally quiet and still, Kara had shown her the yellow, white, and red petals delicately pressed in a nondescript book that sat on her bedside table. It left Lena with her heart beating madly against the cage of her ribs when her fingers ghosted over the dried flowers.

“You kept them?” Lena said, a hitch of awe catching in the back of her throat.

Kara chuckled as she reached out and took the book from Lena’s hand, closing it gently, “Of course. You gave them to me. It’s not like I could have kept all of them. You practically turned my office into a botanical garden.”

Lena arched an eyebrow, and pressed Kara with an unconvinced look, “You have a Pulitzer.”

Kara shrugged and glanced down, her finger running along the spine of the book, “So? Honestly, I don’t even know where that thing is. I think it’s in a box in the back of my closet somewhere? Not that it matters. Well… it does matter, but not like this does,” she raises the book in her hand, motioning with it weakly.

“Seems like the Luthors’ have you in good standing. Roses, Pulitzers. Maybe you’ll write the screenplay and get yourself an Oscar. Heaven knows there is enough salacious material.” The words come out more flippant than Lena expected; carrying more bite than she would ever mean towards Kara, and she inwardly cursed herself.

A sad smile tugged at the corner of Kara’s mouth as she turned and placed the book back on the tables beside her bed. Lena tapped her fingers nervously against her leg when Kara hesitated to turn around.

“Actually, I have something better.” Kara said, pressing a hand onto her bed as she knelt down and reached underneath. She pulled out a worn shoebox and stood, placing it on top of the bed, “I’ve kept a bunch of stuff from our relationsh-..” Kara cleared her throat, “friendship over the years.”

Supercorptober 2021 Day 18: Cozy

Fic link.Series link.

The light is on in her apartment as Kara flies towards it, and it’s not unusual for Lena or her sister to show up while she’s out if they have plans, but she has no plans tonight, no reason to expect either of them to be at her apartment.

She flies through her window, and recognises Lena on the couch immediately, though it’s her best friend’s heartbeat that gives her away, Lena barely visible under the pile of blankets surrounding her, only the top of head poking out.

“Lena?” Kara frowns, any relief she felt knowing that it was just Lena in her apartment turning to worry with how she’s found Lena. “Are you okay?”

The pile shuffles and Lena’s head pops out from the blankets. Kara would think it’s cute, Lena’s hair a mess, forehead crinkled, if it wasn’t for the aforementioned worry.

“Sorry,” Lena says, emerging more from the blankets, face screwed up slightly as she does. “I wasn’t feeling the best and I ended up here without realising it on the way home.”

“I don’t care that you’re here,” Kara says, crouching down in front of the couch. “I asked if you’re okay. Are you sick?” She brushes some loose hair off Lena’s forehead before she puts her head to her forehead. It’s something she’d seen Eliza do with Alex when they were younger but she realises too late that she runs hotter than humans so Lena’s forehead feels cool.

“I’m fine,” Lena says. “It’s just cramps, they’ll pass soon, then I can leave.” She pauses. “Or I can go now if you prefer, I didn’t mean to intrude.”

Kara nudges Lena’s shoulder, Lena taking the hint to lie back down. “You don’t have to leave at all.” She presses a kiss to Lena’s forehead. “I’ll be right back.”

Kara speeds to her room, gets changed into more comfortable clothes, raids her own chocolate stash and then her medicine cabinet which only has things in it for Alex, and more recently, for Lena. She’s back in front of Lena in moments, painkillers and chocolate in hand, something else she’d learnt from Alex growing up too. She doesn’t get them herself, but she’s well aware that periods suck.

“Do you want to watch a movie?” Kara asks. “Or are you hungry? If you don’t want chocolate, I can get something else.”

“This is perfect,” Lena smiles, taking the offered pills and then the glass of water Kara vanishes to retrieve. “And we can watch a movie if you want, I’m afraid I don’t think I’ll be great company tonight.”

“Movie it is,” Kara smiles. “But you are going to have to share some of that couch with me. Where did you even get all these blankets? I didn’t realise I had so many.”

Lena smiles, and starts to move to make room for Kara but Kara has a better idea as she takes a seat where Lena’s head had just been. She pats her lap and she can see Lena hesitate for a moment before she lays back down, head now resting in Lena’s lap.

Ok ok consider: almost fake dating but… Lena asks Sam to be her fake date to some reunion or other next month, and Kara just keeps moping & pouting and trying to prove that she’d be WAY better at pretending to date Lena. Like.

• Kara is affronted. Offended. “LENA. I’d be way better. Can Sam even COMMIT the way I could to the role?”

• I’m so good at holding hands, the best, you know this/you always say so.

• Pulling out chairs for her like “I got you, babe”

• Why ask Sam? When I’m right here??

• And Lena at wits end all “because I didn’t WANT YOU…” “oh.. :’(” “…to pretend” “oh

“Oh, and by the way, Sam’s flying in for the weekend.”

Kara gasps at her casual announcement and then squeals so high that Lena flinches a bit.

“Oh my God, really?! She is?! I haven’t seen her in forever. Gosh, we should arrange a girl’s night!!”

Lena chuckles around the bite of burger she has in her mouth. A girl’s night sounds great doesn’t it? And it seems like Kara is more than enthusiastic to host. She’s practically vibrating Lena’s couch.

But, Sam isn’t really here for that.

See, Lena Luthor, genius extraordinaire and savior of National City in not just once but plenty of occasions, had the brilliant idea of asking Samantha Arias to be her fake date.

Ok hear me out…

Kara singing at Kelly and Alex’s wedding.

Perhaps it’s during the ceremony like she did for Barry and Iris, but I personally hope it’s at the reception. Anyway, Kara gets up to sing, walking from the bridal party table across the dance floor to a small stage and she starts crushing it (as if there were any doubt). Alex and Kelly are smiling/kissing as they dance at the reception, Alex looking dashing in a suit, Kelly looking stunning in a non-traditional dress. They’re so freaking happy. It’s beautiful and everyone is overjoyed for the happy couple. Nia is happy for Dansen but mostly holding it together; J’onn and Brainy are crying, Brainy practically sobbing. Lena is happy for Alex and Kelly and she’s crying too, but it’s not because of them, not really. She hasn’t been able to take her eyes off of Kara.

Kara takes the mic and when she starts singing, her eyes are focused solely on Kelly and Alex (as it be should, they’re the brides.) However, right around the time the lyrics to [insert song of choice here (I’m picturing “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri because reasons, shut up)] start getting really romantic, Kara’s eyes subconsciously search for Lena out among the crowd. She quickly finds a distinct pair of emerald eyes, which happen to be looking right back at her. Lena’s looking at Kara the same way she has a thousand times before. Heck, it’s a look Kara has given Lena just as much, if not more so: that she only has eyes for her, like there’s no one else in the room. It causes Kara to freeze for half a second, but it’s not that noticeable (she hopes.) Kara focuses, changes her focal point back to Alex and Kelly, keeps singing and it goes great. Lena looks away, blushing slightly.

As the song starts coming to an end, Alex and Kelly’s dance takes them right in front of where Lena is sitting. Kara can’t help herself and she looks back to Lena as she sings to the last verse. She’s singing for Alex and Kelly but she is singing to Lena and Lena knows it. The song ends with Kelly dipping Alex and kissing her. As the reception hall bursts into cheers and applause for the happy couple, Lena mouths to Kara “I love you.” Kara says it back, “I love you too.” Kara forgot the mic in her hand; her declaration is heard across the reception hall. There’s some confusion from the crowd. The brides turn to face Kara, who by the grace of Rao is able to play it off like she said “I love you two.” Alex and Kelly say “we love you” as Kara comes down from the stage and embraces them in a big hug, before she rushes over to her seat next to Lena at the bridal party table. Lena squeezes her hand reassuredly.

A few hours later, after the brides had taken off and the party ended, Kara and Lena found themselves the last ones to leave. Lena had generously tipped the staff to wait 15 minutes before they began cleaning and to give her and Kara complete privacy. Pulling up spotify and turning the volume up on her phone, Lena started playing a song [insert romantic song of choice], put out her hand for Kara to take and took her to the dance floor. Initially, Kara led, her hands on Lena’s hips and Lena’s hands on her neck. Though it was pleasant, Lena decided they weren’t close enough. Lena ran her hands down Kara’s arms until they were holding hands and spun herself out and then back into Kara’s arms. Kara’s hands were back on Lena’s hips, only this time with Lena’s hands overtop of Kara’s as Lena was now dancing with her back pressed to Kara’s chest. Laughing about Lena’s dance moves, Kara quickly pressed a kiss to Lena’s shoulder before resting her chin upon it, her eyes closed and just enjoying the moment. Lena’s eyes closed as well as she trembled upon feeling Kara’s lips on her skin and she pressed herself closer to Kara. For several glorious minutes, the world melted away as they embraced one another. When the playlist transitioned to the final song they’d have alone, Lena opened her eyes to look back at Kara. She turned her head and lightly touched her nose to Kara’s. This caused the blonde to open her eyes and see Lena staring back at her, not just with love this time but desire. Kara may have moved ever so slightly faster than Lena to close the gap between them, but Lena’s lips met hers with just as much passion.

Neither of them noticed that Kara had been levitating them during their dance for the past ten minutes. They also did not notice that Nia had snuck back in to grab the purse she forgot, saw the levitating dance kiss and would definitely have some things to talk to them about…later. Not tonight.

They deserved to have tonight.

Happy Halloween, I wrote some Halloween smut because why the fuck not and @mooosicaldreamz infected me with the idea!

“Why are you wearing that?”

“Wearing…what?” Kara asks, looking down at herself. Her costume is cheap, sure – just a baggy black polyester robe, a hat, and a green rubber mask with a warty nose – but it was the first costume she saw at the store, and she didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on something she planned on throwing away.

That.” The woman nods her head at Kara’s general presence, her eyes lingering on the mask. “That costume.”

“It’s Halloween?” Kara shrugs, completely lost.

“Yes, and this is why I hate Halloween,” the woman says, with a little more heat behind it. “It’s…it’s perpetuating stereotypes.”

For a few long moments, Kara stares at the woman’s steadily reddening face. When she finally opens her mouth, all she can manage is “…what?”

OR

Kara and Lena find each other at a Halloween party not long after their first meeting, but neither recognize the other past their costumes. Their spark, however, is completely intact.

OR OR

If Lena was a witch from the beginning, Kara didn’t recognize her because of a terrible disguise, and they fucked in a storage closet.

“So,” Alex’s eyes flick from one blonde to the other. She doesn’t even have it left in her to be surprised. “She’s from another Earth?”

“And the future,” both Karas say at the same time. Kara, this Earth’s Kara, looks a little bit awed at the almost identical version of herself standing beside her.

There are differences, of course. This other Kara is older, though it’s hard to tell by how much thanks to Kryptonian physiology.

There are a series of lines in the corners of her eyes, and more freckles on her cheeks. Her hair is blonder than Kara’s, almost silver at the front on one side.

Despite wearing sweatpants and a threadbare MIT sweatshirt, she looks poised in a way Kara hasn’t quite mastered yet, almost regal.

Alex sighs.

“Must be Tuesday.”

-

Kara gives herself a tour of the tower. Apparently on Older Kara’s earth they work out of an abandoned castle somewhere. She won’t reveal too much, says it can be dangerous to talk too much about it, in case some things overlap.

They get along well, sharing matching grins as Kara leads them from room to room. A box of Brainy’s donuts are discovered in the kitchen and soon both Kara’s have full bellies and icing on their fingers. It’s kind of nice, actually.

Older Kara tell her that she thinks a fifth dimensional imp has something to do with her ending up here, and Kara nods along, knowing all about it.

“Lena can help,” Kara says casually as they enter the lab, where Lena sits among a series of spell books and equipment. She’s leaning heavily on one elbow, face down turned to the page she’s reading in a kind of concentration that makes her miss their entrance.

Her hair is pulled up into a quick bun, a few pieces slipping out around her face, and she has a pair of thick rimmed glasses perched on her nose that Kara knows she’s started needing to read the tiny print in her mother’s spell book.

She looks comfortable in the bubble of her lab, and as beautiful as she has ever been.

Older Kara pauses beside her, the easy posture she had adopted during their tour transforming into stony stillness.

“So let me get this straight,” Sam says, grinning and leaning back against Lena’s desk. “You’re going on a destination-less road trip with Kara, and only Kara, for two weeks?”

“That is the plan, yes,” Lena says, half distracted by the endless stream of emails in her inbox.

“So, you’re telling me you’re spending two weeks confined to a car with Kara Danvers and no one else as a buffer. Just you and Kara, alone together for two weeks. And this is why you need me to temporarily take over as CEO.”

Yes, Sam.”

Sam bursts out laughing. She holds up a hand, trying to suppress it, but then something in Lena’s expression sets her off again and she’s wheezing. Lena watches in bewilderment as she wipes the corners of her eyes. “Oh honey. You are absolutely fucked.”

With L-Corp in chaos and Lena on the verge of a mental breakdown, Kara proposes an escape: a road trip up the West Coast. The only problem? It’s just the two of them and a car on the road for two weeks, and it’s getting increasingly difficult for Lena to deny the fact that she’s maybe, slightly, desperately in love with her best friend.

Kara is a single soon-to-be mom and she is living with her sister while she’s on pregnancy leave. She’s on her 6th month and her cravings for food are very specific; whatever cooks her stranger neighbor from the apartment down the hall. Chapter 1: the smell of happiness

UPDATE: CH 4 “SIX DEGREES”

spaceman-earthgirl:

“Happy New Year!”

The shouts ring out around the apartment, the loudest coming from Esme, the little girl has her hands waving, grinning as she launches herself into Alex and Kelly’s legs.

Alex grins into the celebratory kiss she’s giving her wife before both women turn to their daughter. Beside them, Brainy is pressing his own kiss to Nia’s cheek, Nia grinning too.

A warm hand on Kara’s bicep distracts her from the cute scenes in front of her and she turns to find warm green eyes watching her.

“Happy New Year,” Lena laughs, a hint of mischief in her eyes as she opens her arms to offer Kara a hug.

Kara easily steps into the embrace, Lena slotting perfectly against her. Her best friend is warm, and Kara can’t help but linger when Lena presses her face into her neck.

Kara can’t wait to do this in a few hours again, when it’s actually midnight.

It had been Lena’s idea, so Esme could be included, to pretend to let the young girl stay up until “midnight” when in reality, it’s only 9pm.

Seeing Esme’s excitement all evening, it had been a great idea.

It’s with great reluctance that Kara pulls herself from the hug, but that doesn’t mean she goes far, she couldn’t move away from Lena even if she tried, and it’s not just because Lena’s hands are now resting on her biceps, but it’s because Lena is smiling so softly at her, eyes crinkled in the corners and Kara doesn’t want to look away.

She’s leaning in without even realising it, it’s only when a small body crashes into her legs, breaking her from the moment, that Kara realises she was in fact just a second or two away from kissing her best friend.

“Come on, kiddo, time for bed,” Alex says, shooting Kara a look that’s part confused, part apologetic for Esme’s interruption.

The pout Esme gives Alex is one to rival Kara’s, but Alex doesn’t waver and Esme must sense she’s fighting a losing battle because she lets Alex take her hand and lead her from the room.

Kara watches them go, mostly because she’s too scared to turn and look at Lena, too scared to look at her best friend who she definitely nearly just kissed when friends should not do that.

spaceman-earthgirl:

Lena can hear the giggles from across the apartment as Kara tries to get Esme to brush her teeth, cajoles her into her pyjama’s, ready for bed. Lena’s not sure how the little girl still has any energy left, she’s exhausted after the long day they’ve all had. She’s sure that if she closed her eyes right now, warm and comfortable on Kara’s couch, she’d fall asleep herself.

“I have to say goodnight to my godmother before bed!”

Lena hears the shout before she sees Esme, who runs out of the bedroom, barrelling across the apartment straight towards Lena.

Lena’s heart swells, Esme grinning as she practically launches herself at Lena, the only thing stopping Lena from being winded by the attack is Lena holding out her arms to catch Esme. Even then, she’s slightly breathless from the impact.

“Goodnight, my darling,” Lena smiles, arms around the girl as she presses a kiss to the top of her head.

Esme pulls away, tilts her head back to see Lena, who brushes some of Esme’s wavy hair behind her ear. “Goodnight, aunt Lena,” Esme beams.

Lena’s not sure how she got so lucky, to have this amazing family in her life.

“Come on, kiddo” Kara calls, Lena glancing up to see Kara watching them from across the room, a soft smile on her face.

Lena’s heart swells again.

Kara holds out her hand towards Esme, wiggles her fingers. “Let’s get you to bed.”

Esme pouts, a move Lena knows she learned from one of the Danvers Sisters as she slips out of Lena’s lap. Esme takes Kara’s hand, Kara shooting Lena one last smile before she leads Esme towards the spare bedroom, a room that’s going to be Esme’s for the next week while Alex and Kelly are on their honeymoon.

It doesn’t take long for Kara to return, a tired smile on her face as she flops unceremoniously onto the couch beside Lena.

“It’s going to be a busy week with her, isn’t it?” Kara says, though Lena knows Kara doesn’t mind one bit, that she loves having her niece to stay.

“I’m afraid it might be.”

Kara sinks further into the couch. “I’m exhausted.”

“So am I.” Lena reaches out, lays her hand over one of Kara’s. They haven’t had time to talk since the wedding, with helping to pack everything up and then the whirlwind that is Esme, but she’s been worried since she spoke to Kara earlier, clearly she hadn’t been okay. “How are you doing, after today?”

Kara frowns. “After my sister getting married?”

Lena squeezes her hand. “No, you were questioning whether you should stop hiding who you are. I haven’t seen you wearing your glasses since.”

Lena loves that she gets to see Kara like this, as truly herself, no glasses, hair down, on her couch wearing sweats and a t-shirt looking completely comfortable with who she is.

“I’m good,” Kara smiles.

“Yeah?”

“Yeah, I am, thank you. I think it’s time I finally show the world who I am. No more lying, I don’t want to hide anymore.”

“You don’t have to.” Lena tangles their fingers together. “And I’ll be here for you, every step of the way.”

This time it’s Kara that squeezes their joined hands. “I know, thank you,” Kara repeats.

Lena stifles a yawn with her other hand, feeling comfortable and warm with Kara’s hand in hers and the knowledge that her friend is okay when she’d been upset earlier. “I think it might be time for bed.”

“Wait, I…there’s something else I want to talk to you about first.” Kara lifts her hand, clearly nervous as she goes to shift glasses that aren’t there and ends up running her fingers from loose hair.

“Are you okay?” Lena asks, nerves clear in bright blue eyes now.

Kara swallows as she nods, but Lena doesn’t believe her this time. “Are you sure?”

“I love you,” Kara says, unprompted but far from the first time they’ve shared the sentiment.

“I love you, too,” Lena smiles, even if the meaning behind her words is slightly different than Kara’s. They’d talked about their friendship this afternoon, and Kara is her best friend, but it’s never been just friendship to her, even through it all, there’s been something different lingering beneath the surface, a feeling that Lena knows is more than the friendship they always talk about, to her at least.

“I know.” Kara pulls her legs up onto the couch, twists until she’s facing Lena, her legs tucked beneath her. She reaches for Lena’s other hand, pulls them both into her lap. “But that’s not what I’m trying to say. I’m done hiding, all of me, and a part of that, is the fact that I’m in love with you.” Lena gasps, but Kara’s not done. “I’ve been waiting, hiding, wondering if I should ever tell you or keep that a secret too. But secrets only destroy things, and I don’t want this one to destroy us.

“I don’t want to lose you either, and I know if I wait too long, I’ll always regret not telling you. I just want to be completely myself, and I, Kara Zor-El, am completely in love with you.”

It takes two whole days for Kara to even touch the baby.

She knows that she’s half Kryptonian, but the key word is half. They don’t know how much her Kryptonian blood will affect her physiology and so far she hasn’t really done anything but sleep and eat and no one wants to test it. She’s so small and looks so fragile.

Her skin is pale like Lena’s, the blue of her veins showing through where it’s thinnest. Her hair is dark like Lena’s too, a soft down of black hair that’s almost unfairly thick for a newborn, something Lena bemoans as “the source of all that goddamned heartburn.” She looks so much like Lena, in fact, that Kara wonders if they’ve made a mistake and she ended up wholly human instead, which makes the idea of handling her all the more frightening.

Kara doesn’t touch her, but she can’t stop staring at her. She’s just so beautiful, so perfect. From her ten fingers to her ten toes, from the chub in her cheeks to the dimples in her tiny knees. Her chin leans on the side of the plastic crib as the baby sleeps and Lena sleeps and the halls outside the hospital room are quiet. It’s late, or maybe it’s early, Kara isn’t sure. She can’t sleep.

She hasn’t felt so afraid of her own strength since Streaky and it’s strange that the worry should resurface now when she’s been in control of her powers for so long. But oh, yes, she’s afraid. “You won’t hurt her, Kara,” Lena has told her throughout the last two days, but Kara still can’t bring herself to make the attempt. Because if they’re wrong, if she makes a mistake… she’s so small and helpless.

Who knew that it would be a tiny newborn baby that would bring Supergirl to her knees?

The baby begins to fuss. It starts as quiet snuffling that turns to a whimper. Kara glances nervously at Lena — she hasn’t been sleeping much — and than back down towards the baby. “Shh,” she coos. “It’s okay. Go back to sleep, baby.” But of course, being only two days old, the words mean nothing to her.

Blue eyes blink open, almost too wide in her small, sweet face, a moment before her features crumple and she lets out a wail. How so much sound can fit in one tiny body, Kara will never understand. Maybe she has super lungs after all. With another nervous look at Lena, Kara shuffles to the side of the crib, reaching out towards the baby. She hesitated a moment before stroking her fingertips over her belly.

It isn’t enough. The baby’s upset sounds grow louder until Kara finally reaches out, one hand under the baby’s head and neck and he other under her bottom. Hardly daring to breathe, she scoops her up and settles her carefully into the crook of her arm.

And Rao, but she’s small. So small, so light that Kara hardly registers her weight. She fits into the curve of Kara’s body so easily and it must’ve been all she wanted because she settles again, peering owlishly up at Kara with her mittened hands curved against her cheeks.

“Hi, gorgeous,” Kara whispers, finally releasing the breath she’s been holding. “Hi there, baby girl.” She rocks her slowly, cant take her eyes off her. As the baby blinks up at her, she begins to sing a soft Kryptonian lullaby, delighted when it sends her off to sleep again.

“You’re a natural.”

Kara looks up to find Lena watching her from the bed, a small smile tilting her lips. “That’s pretty, what you’re singing.”

“My parents used to sing it to me. I sang it to Kal-El sometimes when I kept an eye on him.”

“And now you’ll sing it to her. Our daughter.”

Kara smiles a little and looks down again, studying the way dark lashes curve against soft cheeks. Their perfect baby, this blessing that is both of theirs. “I will,” she agrees, dipping her head down to brush a kiss over those dark curls.

(It takes her two days to even touch the baby, but after that, it’s almost impossible to get Kara to put her down.)
