You sat with a couple of your friends at a local cafe, enjoying the Saturday afternoon since you had no other plans. Your boyfriend was missing in action at the moment, but you weren’t too concerned, figuring he was just busy with practice. While your friends were chatting excitedly about the latest fashion trends, you were sitting across from them, quietly sipping your drink. You were the farthest thing from a fashionista so you really had no clue what the hell they were going on about, but you also didn’t want to be rude and try to change the subject when they were having so much fun.

Your phone vibrated in your pocket and you tugged it open, smiling when your boyfriend’s name popped up on the screen. Being the nosy friends they were, Naomi and Ryuu exchanged a look before sneaking up behind you to read the message over your shoulder.

[Kippei <3: Where are you?]

“Suspicious~” Naomi sang, glancing over at Ryuu who nodded in agreement.

“Why does he need to know where you are?”

You rolled your eyes at their dramatics, sending a reply to let him know you were relaxing at the cafe with your two idiotic best friends. Five minutes passed by without a reply and they returned to their seats across from you, sending you looks of sympathy that had you quirking a brow. “What’s that look for?”

“Don’t you get it?” Naomi frowned, sending a look to Ryuu.

“He’s totally cheating on you.”

“What?” you blinked, tilting your head to the side in confusion. What were they going on about?

“Think about it,” Ryuu commented, taking a long sip of his drink. “He asked where you were, right? Why would he do that? Because he wanted to make sure you were out of the picture.”

“Then he didn’t respond,” Naomi continued. “Why? Because he’s too busy with his side piece now that you’re not around.”

You resisted the strong urge to slam your head against the table. What was wrong with your friends? And more importantly, why were you still friends with them? “That’s ridiculous, guys. He’s probably just busy with practice, it happens.”

“Whatever you say,” Ryuu replied haughtily. The two continued on, whispering to one another as if you couldn’t hear them talking about how sorry they felt for you and how horrible men could be. They said this, but they had a new partner every other weak, which made no sense to you.

While they were distracted, they failed to notice your phone vibrating again with Kippei’s reply.

[Kippei <3: Me and the boys are busy with practice. When we’re done, we’ll meet up and have dinner, ok? Maybe we can catch that movie you’ve been wanting to see. I love you :)]

You smiled softly at the message before composing your own, ‘Have fun and be safe. I love you too! <3’ Satisfied, you slid the phone back into your pocket, smiling like a fool as you propped your cheek in your palm, watching your friends. They were now bickering about who wore the best outfit at some award show. They were so strange and could often be infuriating, but they certainly were entertaining.
