Over a year old I think? Just forgot to ever post this piece. My second embroidery so I didn’t want to make it too complicated so its very simple shapes

What is it with people who post something that is very skillful and well-executed and then say “oh, this is only my second attempt … I was trying to keep it simple….” That’s not simple.

1. Good job, those are extremely gorgeous embroidered cats there. The little hairs in the ears, the highlights in the eyes, the patterns on the fur, the precisely accurate proportions, the angles on the whiskers…the attention to detail, it’s good, it’s really really good.

2. Maybe don’t do that thing though? When you’ve made something gorgeous, own that it is gorgeous, or post it without commenting on the quality at all. Downplaying things…kinda makes it harder for anyone else to have realistic expectations. Now, I haven’t done embroidery the way I’ve done drawing and knitting and other artsy/craftsy things where people post amazing stuff like this and then minimize it, so I don’t know if it’s actually unrealistic to get something this detailed and gorgeous on a second attempt, but I know some people definitely dodo this kind of minimizing talk for things that are actually very, very difficult and advanced. Even if this was actually your second embroidered work ever and that’s not way out of the ballpark amazing for a second effort (also did…did you make up the pattern yourself???????) you could eg mention how long it took you to make that or something. Something that, you know, gives other new creators a realistic sense of what they’re getting themselves into.

It took me 42 hours and I did make the design myself! Theyre my friends two cats
