George Ragan The Dead Son - The Abyss

“I can’t outrun these ghosts anymore” (Go To War)

“Is there hope for the hopeless? A prayer for the soulless?” (Broken Man)

“As I cross this great divide, you were on my mind” (The Day I Die)

“Heaven can wait” (Heaven Can Wait) / “I will be here at the end of it all” (Bring Me Down)

A series of five paintings based on the album “The Abyss” by George Ragan The Dead Son. The references used are from the music videos of “Heaven Can Wait”, “All Gone”, and “The Day I Die”.

As usual, my motivation behind doing this series of fanarts is to show my appreciation for the music, but this time I wanted to make sure that what I created would actually add something to it, rather than it just being a fun painting practice, since the album and the thoughts behind it are so personal to the musician.

While the paintings can be viewed individually, my original plan was to create a little booklet/zine that combines them into a bit of a story. The first and last painting can be respectively seen as intro and outro, with the remaining three paintings retelling the sentiment of the overall album and music videos.

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, the printing and assembling of the booklet/zine has to be postponed for at least another three weeks. However, this project has already been going on longer than planned, so I wanted to share the paintings like this already.
