The Dirty Dozen was released on 15 June 1967.
Receiving mostly negative reviews (”"studied indulgence of sadism that is morbid and disgusting beyond words,“ “downright preposterous”) but was a huge commercial hit (5th highest-grossing film of 1967) and was nominated for 4 Academy Awards (John Cassavetes for Best Supporting Actor, Michael Luciano for Best Film Editing, Best Sound, and John Poyner for Best Sound Effects). Poyner received the film’s only Oscar.
