You guys, this is so amazing and funny to me, because mirages like this, exactly like this, are probably what led to the idea of ‘The Flying Dutchman’ – if you were a 1600s borderline illiterate seaman, or indeed an educated officer, and you saw a Dutch East Indiaman apparently floating above the sea, what would you name this obviously supernatural ship…?
