So… Kyoshi and Rangi all but got married in this deleted chapter of The Shadow of Kyoshi
The latest Kyoshi novel box set features a deleted 16 page chapter from The Shadow of Kyoshi. In this draft of the story, Kyoshi participates in a local game shortly after events of chapter “The Message” to keep the peace. Refusing to take sides between the rival clans, Kyoshi chooses to represent the Sei'naka clan. According to the author’s commentary, this chapter interfered with the novel’s pacing. This chapter was replaced by events of chapters “Resignation,” and “Weakness.”

1) We are HOPING this project to be a monthly release. Unfortunately, however, many of those involved work full time jobs or are students, so that’s not a guarantee. Voice recording doesn’t take too long, but the art side of the project takes a while.
2) The art will be more consistent going forward as we brought more artists on board. We’re also creating character sheets for reference.
3) Although the first chapter is titled as a pilot episode, we won’t be re-doing the first episode. We’re moving onto the next chapter, which is significantly longer.
4) Our goal is to eventually adapt both The Rise of Kyoshi and The Shadow of Kyoshi in their entirety.

both yangchen and roku acted as parental figures for kyoshi and aang, comforting and hugging them and giving them similar advice on a situation that only they can truly understand as past avatars. they let them be vulnerable and emotional with no judgment, and just let them be the kids that they still were despite having the entire weight of the world on their shoulders. this sort of relationship is something aang and kyoshi needed, and roku and yangchen so naturally provided it.
