I just realized that Arthur’s gun in HNoC is called a Clarent ten caliber railgun. A ten caliber. X Caliber

Johnathan Sims you beautiful bastard

As@lolgmalolg-did-nothing-wrong pointed out, myth Balder was killed by missiletoe

TBI Balder was killed by Missile Two

I could go on

Please do

The seax knifes that the ghouls carry in hnoc are also what the irl Saxons are called after

“She comes up while I am fishing” in Holder Of The GRAIL is a reference to the fisher king, who is the last in a long bloodline charged with keeping the Holy Grail in most tellings of the original myth

Bors and Percival were also on the party to get the grail in the myths too

Joseph Robert Mathea is a reference to a 13th century poem by Robert de Boron about the original grail holder, Joseph of Arimathea

The “bandit what tried to bushwhack him in one of the flooded sectors” is a reference to the Lady of the Lake

In TBI, Inspector Second Class Lyfrassir Edda is actually two references. Lyfrassir is a reference to a story about two humans named Líf and Lífþrasir, who survived Ragnarok by hiding in a tree stump. (Which sort of bodes well for Lyfrassir to have survived the story).

Edda comes from the Prose Edda and Poetic Edda, which if my having watched that one OSP video years ago serves me right are two texts written about Norse mythology.

In UDaD, Oedipus has data sockets in place of eyes. In myth, Oedipus gouges out his own eyes after finding out he accidentally killed his father and married his mother after having beaten the sphinx’s riddle. In UDaD, Oedipus is introduced to his wife by the Olympians after discovering that the byproduct of their immortality is the Sphinx, a disease that ages people to death, and killing a man defending his lab.

OH FUCK I just realized the Suits in UDaD are wearing suits because they’re the suitors in the myth, because they’re keeping Ulysses from Penelope

That’s such a terrible pun I love it

Reading back through this and now I’m thinking the pair of deputies “whose names were quickly forgotten” in “The Hierophant” were probably Bors and Percival, because as @lolgmalolg-did-nothing-wrong said they’re in most of the retellings of they myth, but they never get mentioned in HNOC

No they’re the corpses outside where the grail is being held I just didn’t words properly

Oh whoops
