dualumina:

dualumina:

LOOKat all the care Yuma puts into just saying Astral’s name.

Eachsyllable of that name is precious to him.

Yuma straight up travelled to the afterlife and battled GOD, and won, for the right to say that name to the person it belongs to again.

And he is absolutelycherishing the fact that he can say it right now.

Yuma doesn’t give a damn that he’s in excruciating amounts of pain at this moment

Cause right now, he’s doing the one thing that he considers to be his very definition of happiness:

Being able to duel with Astral again.

They met because of duelling, they conquered hundreds of obstacles by duelling, they straight up bonded through duelling.

The two of them side-by-mother-freakin’-side throughout all of it.

AND WHAT WAS ASTRAL’S RESPONSE TO ALL THIS?

THE SAME PERSON WHO ORIGINALLY WAS BORN AND RAISED TO BE A SOLDIER FOR THE ASTRAL WORLD

THE SAME PERSON WHO ORIGINALLY HAD NO CLUE ABOUT HUMAN EMOTIONS

THE SAME PERSON WHO CAN CANONICALLY HEAR YUMA’S TRUE EMOTIONS AND THOUGHTS, REGARDLESS OF WHAT YUMA VERBALLY SAYS

Astral can straight up read past Yuma’s words and see the emotions tied directly to them.

And when you consider the fact that right now they are facing off against an enemy, that’s big.

Ofcourse neither of them is going to step up and say “I love you” in a moment like this, because they don’t need to say it with words.

They are saying it through their

GOD

DAMN

ACTIONS.

In honor of @zexalmonth I thought I’d take my favourite scene and break it down even further.I’m not super big on following prompts in any specific order, I just kinda do what I feel like when it’s appropriate.

Ehh, let’s call this the “my response to what’s my favourite episode but in honesty it was really just this one scene, and here’s more proof as to why Yuma and Astral are my OTP for the shipping prompt. Oh yeah, let’s add favourite characters prompt too while I’m ahead.”

So for anyone who might have been wondering about why Yuma’s mouth moved in the way that it did, (like myself) I was bored enough to figure it out.

Astral(アストラルAsutoraru

For English speakers, we’re able to distinguish between L sounds and R sounds, but for Japanese speakers, that’s not entirely doable. Same with B and V, hence why Vector sometimes sounds like Bector in the sub.

Meaning Yuma is sounding out “Asutoralu” in this scene in specific.

After double checking on Google Translate, I can definitely say that the ‘su’ sound is, for the most part, silent, or at least the ‘As’ sound takes precedence (I don’t actually speak Japanese, please don’t sue me.)

The end result is as follows:

As-

-to-

-ra-

-lu

Oh my god, just look at how much of an open book Yuma is in all of this!!

As - He’s uncertain, even tentative, after just hearing Astral’s response.

to - The emotions are too much for Yuma to take in, he’s exhausted from the pain and the journey to Astral World.

ra - But still there’s joy! His heart is soaring from being with Astral again!

lu - And at this moment, Yuma has forgotten about the pain. He is at ease. His most precious thing is right there beside him.

And then he smiles!!!

Yuma smiles after hearing that Astral understands the emotions.

Imagine if you loved someone who you weren’t even sure could understand what that emotion even was.I’d be smiling from ear-to-god-damn-ear if I found out that they understood what my feelings encompassed.

Then the last episode you have Astral who’s just-

Astral was introduced tolove,

Astrallearned aboutlove,

Astralunderstoodlove,

and finally

Astrallearned toLOVE.
