You were left tied to the chair and locked in the same room for nearly the whole day. You couldn’t believe that you basically had better treatment on both pirate ships’ brigs. Finally Alexander came into the room well after it had turned dark.

“No ships following us, looks like your pirates don’t find you worth the chase,” He taunted. You didn’t say anything, you weren’t sure what he knew about your stay with the pirates. For all he knows, you were their prisoner and they were just waiting to get the ransom for you. Or maybe he thinks you had sold yourself to their service, either way you would not admit that you actually had refound the love of your life.

He cut away the ropes that had you bound to the chair. You made a point to rub your wrists, they had tied the ropes rather tight, and you wanted him to know that he was as shitty of a man as you thought he was.

“Are you just not going to speak to me?” He huffed, “Not even a thank you for rescuing you from pirates, you couldn’t ask for a better life then the one I can offer you.

You couldn’t hold back the scoff that slipped through your lips at that. “I would have a better life in a pig’s pen than as your wife.”

Alexander’s hand raised at you quickly, only stopping inches from your face as you flinched away. “You will learn to watch your tongue around me!”

You let out a huff at that. Either Bucky was going to come for you or you would find a way to run away again. Either way, the last thing you would be doing was anything this man told you to do.

“Well either way, your parents will be glad to see you. Your father was starting to think he’d be in debt forever.” Alexander added, a hint of taunting in his voice.

“What is that supposed to mean?” You asked, though, if you were honest with yourself you knew exactly what that meant. You didn’t want to believe that your father would basically sell you off to pay his debts, but that is what it seemed like.

“Nothing that you need to worry about. Now, there is a dress laid out for you over there. I will not have you wearing those, boy rags another minute. Once you have changed you will be allowed to walk around the ship, just don’t get in anyone’s way.” With those instructions he turned to leave you.

You were tempted to refuse the dress, to just stay hidden away in the cabin, but you also wanted some air and figured that when Bucky came to rescue you, you would want to be in on the action.

It wasn’t as if you hadn’t worn a dress since you joined Bucky’s crew, you had, plenty of times, but they were all much more comfortable then the one that Peirce left for you. There were too many layers, constricting your every move. You wondered how you ever wore these everyday.

You groaned when you noticed the corset, one that was not a comforting one that made you feel secure, but one that was not big enough for your frame and had you struggling to breath fully. You tried to tie it as loose as possible but still you found it rather uncomfortable.

You were pleasantly surprised when you were basically ignored by everyone on the ship, including Peirce. You really were free to wonder and you took advantage of it, spending most of the day on the top deck. You stayed at the back of the ship, eye on the horizon. You knew there was no way that Bucky was letting you go this easily, he had promised the opposite.

As you stood there watching the sea, you were beginning to feel the anxiety set in as you thought about what would happen if he didn’t show up. At first you had convinced yourself that you had left once, you could do so again, but you weren’t sure that would be totally true. Not only that, but you also had a lot of anxiety for what would happen if Bucky chose to attack this ship. You knew that he and his crew knew what they were doing, but this was a Navy vessel and you weren’t sure you could handle seeing anything happen to him.

As the sun started to set your heart began to sink, though Bucky could easily be planning to use the cover of night to his advantage, so you still had faith in him. Unfortunately, with that in mind, you didn’t sleep much. You had retired to your room, mostly so no one would question why you were still awake, and watching the rear of the ship, but you absolutely did not go to sleep.

Ultimately, the sun rose, and there had been no alarms raised. Leaving you to spend another day wandering the ship. This routine happened two more nights. You wouldn’t lie when you said you were starting to lose a bit of hope as you laced up your corset another day. You stood on the deck in your usual spot as you watched the sun rise. You had found that it truly was a beautiful sight, and if you weren’t sleeping anyway, you might as well enjoy something about this.

As you were admiring the colors that painted the sky, and in turn the ocean, you happened to notice a small spec of a shadow on the horizon. You discreetly got out your small telescope to see if you could get a better look. It was definitely a ship, you tried not to get your hopes up as it was too far away to be able to tell who it was.

You continued to track it over the next few hours, it was definitely gaining on you, and it wasn’t long before you were able to see that the flag flying were indeed those of the dread pirate Roberts.

Your heart felt light, even if you knew that a lot was about to happen, and that it wasn’t all going to be good, Bucky was coming for you and that had you smiling.

“Captain! We have a ship gaining on us quickly!” You heard a sailor yell.

Without even thinking, you carefully made your way over the rail on the ship. You knew that their next step was to try and hide you below deck and you knew Bucky wouldn’t want to risk your safety so staying where he could see you would be best.

“Get (Y/N)! Take her below deck, we’ll take care of these pirates!”

“It’s Captain Roberts!”

“And we’re the Royal Navy, they don’t stand a chance.”

“Hey! What do you think you’re doing!” Peirce finally noticed you, holding onto the rail, on the wrong side of it.

“Take one step near me and I will jump!” You warned. While it probably wasn’t your smartest thought, you really did mean it. It was a calculated risk. To start, the chance that he or anyone else would take the risk is slim, but even if they did you were a good swimmer, and Bucky’s ship would be close within minutes.

There was no way that you were risking Bucky being this close and slipping through his grasp, and you hated to admit it but you still felt that no life was a better option than a life without him and definitely better than a life with the monster of a man that had you on this ship in the first place.

Looking down had to second guessing that choice for just a minute, but as you looked over, you saw Bucky’s ship, they were close, so close in fact, that you were convinced you could see the worry that was written over Bucky’s face.

“Get down from there!” Alexander shouted.

“Not going to happen. You will never have me. I am not a prize you can buy, and I am not some damsel that needs saving!” You shouted back.

In that moment he must have decided that he had had enough of your antics and he lunged for you. You decided that it was now or never, so with that thought in mind you kicked yourself off the naval ship.

You weren’t sure that anything could be worse than the moment of freefall but the second your body hit the ice cold water you realized you were wrong. It felt like you were being stabbed by a million small needles all over your body. You had to remind yourself that you needed to swim, you needed to break the surface or you would be dead.

You managed to get your head above the water, but found yourself unable to take a solid breath, stupid corset was restricting your every move. You pushed through the pain, and the black splotches that were dotting the edge of your vision, and fought to swim over to the pirate ship.

Bucky, Steve, and Sam were at the edge of the ship, a rope hung down so that you could get up. You managed to grab on, but one attempt at pulling yourself up and you realized it was useless.

Thank god, Bucky was observant enough  to realize you weren’t going to be able to get up yourself. “Hang on tight!” He instructed as he, Sam and Steve began to pull the rope up. As soon as you were close enough, Bucky was reaching over and pulled you the rest of the way up.

“What were you thinking! You could have died!” Bucky fretted over you.

“Can’t breath. Corset” You coughed out, not even paying enough attention to know what Bucky had been saying to you.

Not a second after you had uttered that you heard the sound of fabric ripping and you felt the immediate relief of the corset falling off your chest. You were immediately coughing, trying to get enough air in your lungs, as well as the water from your lungs. You weren’t sure if you were gripping Bucky hard or if he was gripping you more, but either way you took comfort in being in his arms as you listened to him whisper assurances in your ear as Steve barked orders to the men.

The cannons were a noise you were very used to at this point and you weren’t surprised to hear them going off. You could tell the Navy ship was trying to counter the attack but Bucky had had his ship better prepared than them so it wasn’t long before the firing stopped.

You pulled away slightly from him as you watched the Naval ship sinking. You knew that in theory you should feel bad, there were probably good men on that ship, people with families, but you couldn’t, not when you knew that this was the only way you could be free of Pierce trying to find you.

You had known that Bucky wouldn’t have shown the man who tried to take you from him any mercy and if you were being honest, you were thankful for that.

“I’m so sorry it took us so long” He whispered into your hair.

“I knew you’d come.” You told him.

“I will always come for you.” He agreed.
