HI YES, I’m back to being emotional over Good Omens, this time over this scene in the Script Book.
I just. I can’t deal with Aziraphale’s desperation to save Crowley. Not only does he openly admit that’s his friend, and said friend is getting kidnapped, but the fact that he TRIES TO CRAWL after him???
I wouldn’t change anything from the show, at all. I think the show is as close to perfect as any show can get. But DAMN, can you imagine actually seeing this? This is something that would probably not be as surprising if it was Crowley doing it, but we KNOW that’s Aziraphale.
That’s Aziraphale screaming that his friend (his friend, his friend, his friend) is getting kidnapped! And when he sees that Crowley gets thrown into a van, he tries to crawl after it!! He’s been hit with enough force to kill a human, and his vision is fuzzy and swimmy, and yet his first reaction is to try and crawl after Crowley!!
I CAN’T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE TO SAY OTHER THAN AZIRAPHALE TRIES TO CRAWL AFTER CROWLEY
Absolutely none of us would be shocked at Crowley trying to crawl after Aziraphale. It would be entirely in keeping with his portrayal up to then - especially post-bookshop burning and thinking he already lost him.
From Aziraphale, though, it’s massive character development. He’s stopped even pretending to be emotionally detached. He cries out for Crowley and scrambles after him. He keeps trying to reach him after having his skull whacked. He is 100% committed to this now. This is what Crowley means to him and he is no longer hiding or fighting it.
