Years ago I read this terrible anti-kink blog post series called something like “BDSM is the sexual equivalent of people who go to renaissance faires” (I guess that’s supposed to be a bad thing??)
And I’ve told this to multiple people who’ve independently been like “oh no it’s just the same people who go to actual renaissance faires”
Look, some people just really like
a) complex ritualised power struggles,
b) dressing up in costumes and hitting their friends with sticks,
